"Life doesn't always go your way just because you're a badass. Now Josh, Summer, listen to me. I've been hanging out with both of you for a while, now. You're unique. Now, don't let anyone tell you that you have nothing to offer."
―Steven Thompson[src]

Steven Ananiah Thompson is the protagonist of the Boys vs. Girls trilogy. He is a sixth grader who lives in Provo, Utah with his younger sister, Jamie, and their parents. He falls in love with Summer Petersen and succeeds Vincent Organa and leads the Armies of Organa as Supreme Commander to victory against the Girl-Team. He is also a member of the Decemahead, his callsign being one. He returns as the opening antagonist turned quarternery character in D.I.T. One-Shot: Zachary Brown, the deuteragonist in Boys vs. Girls 2, one of the three tritagonists in Boys vs. Girls 2 Prelude, and an opening protagonist in Band of Justice: Omniverse. He will appear as a major character in the upcoming Vault of Ages trilogy.

In 2012 he defeated the Thunder Queen when she invaded their home at night, and was renowned for his victory. Steven attended Grandview Elementary until the family moved in 2011 and Thompson transitioned to Tower Placement School. There he was greeted warmly by everyone except his future nemesis, Emily Watson, and her boyfriend. On the same day, he was pulled even closer to his fate when he met and befriended Josh Hogan and Summer Petersen. While assisting Petersen, he soon discovered that he held nerd-like qualities with his love of Star Wars, politics, and skills in math. Though Thompson was initially in denial, Petersen told him to embrace his nerdy nature. Before long, Thompson was captured by the forces of the vengeful Girl-Team and almost executed in the Andy Ballard Arena, along with Petersen and Andrew Hendersen. The newly arrived Boy-Team rescued them, but the following battle began the war. Thompson fought during many battles of the School War, and during this time, he bonded with Hogan, Petersen, and a newly redeemed Helen McKeen. In the final battle, Emily Watson was killed, and for a brief time, peace was restored.

Steven Thompson eagerly fought in the Insurrection of the Cavaliers of Thornton as well, seeking out new recruits and taking part in the Battle of Orem. Nine months after it started, Thompson located Summer Petersen, who he had spent much time searching for. Thompson was constantly by her side until the final battle, where he caused the assumed death of Cavalier Leader Natalia Thornton. Without Watson and Thornton, all was lost for the girls.

Several years after the conclusion of the Cavalier insurrection, Steven Thompson became engaged to Summer Petersen, his true love, and they gave birth to a child, whom they named Tyson. He also supported his old friend Jay Organa when he became victim to public hostility after he was framed for murdering Wanda.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Infancy[]

Steven Thompson was born on July 9, 2010 to Tanesha and Tyrone Thompson. His infancy was uneventful, yet when he was only two years of age his life would change forever when he fearfully intercepted the Thunder Queen when she invaded their home at night. He was able to steal his parents' gun upon being unable to wake them, and he pointed it at her, landing a very lucky shot at her breastplate, ending her life when the toddler wouldn't let go of the trigger even whilst covering his ears. Steven had inadvertently earned himself the alias of the "Destroyer of Thunder", and was renowned for his victory and ended up in the news on the day following his brush with death.[3]

Education at Grandview Elementary School[]

"In second grade, he'd been stalked by a hooded figure on the playground. He had never seen his face, nor did he truly learn if it were a he, but when two of his friends noticed what was going on he disappeared in a plume of smoke, something only Dark mutants were capable of."
Boys vs. Girls: The Rise of the Serpent

Steven Thompson and his sister, Jamie, attended Grandview Elementary School from kindergarten to sixth grade. He made friends with a boy named Tony. Although he did not live with his cousin, Gregory Thompson, the two were still close.

In second grade, Thompson was stalked by a hooded figure at the playground. Suddenly, two of his friends noticed what was transpiring, prompting the figure to disappear in a plume of smoke, leading Thompson to suspect it was a Dark mutant. Thompson never discovered the gender or identity of his predator.

Eventually, Steven noticed that many students were beginning to disappear and realized nothing good was going on around a student named Bailey Bastian. On four different occasions, Thompson saw Bastian using his stocks of spray paint and cigarettes. Eventually, a child named Preston was nearly killed after a boy clad in a black hoody toggled with a car he had been left in, causing the car to crash into a wall. Thompson thought the boy was Bastian, but his theory was rubbished for a lack of proof. This set Thompson off and he began to stalk Bastian, looking for a reason to get him expelled. Later on, Thompson caught Bastian in the act of burning down the house of a girl named Penny by lighting a match and slipping it under the flap to Penny's door.[1]

Duel in Nebraska[]

When Steven arrived, he told Jamie to run home and fetch a heavy toy, and encountered Bailey and spent several minutes arguing with him. Steven parried Bailey's opening punch expertly and they began to duel. Within a few minutes Bastian was forced to realize Steven may be more athletic than he assumed, as the boy dodged tasers aimed at his head. Even as Steven was driven back to the house, he was interceded by his sister Jamie, who tossed him a bat to fight with. However, Bastian's strength was enough to match them. He promised them mercy if Steven stopped meddling in his murderous bullying, but he and Jamie were only determined to stop him from committing any more unforgivable crimes. The Thompson children were driven back inside the apartment: walls cracked and windows shattered, but suddenly, a girl named Ashley regained consciousness and screamed in fear.

Suddenly, Tony intervened, holding a gun, but Bastian gloated and drove his opponents backwards down the basement hallway. Steven tried to stop Bailey, but he forced open the doors and prepared to murder Ashley. Thanks to Tony's mentor, Bruce, appearing out of nowhere and blasting apart a wall, Bailey's attention was diverted long enough for Steven to grab a shard of glass and resourcefully stab him through the heart. Steven, Jamie Thompson, and Tony, who were never identified as killing Bastian themselves, agreed never to talk about the fight.[1]

Switching to Tower Placement School[]

First Day[]

In 2021, the family moved and Steven attended Tower Placement School instead. Thompson was driven there by his mother. There, he was greeted warmly by everyone except his future nemesis, Emily Watson, and her best friend, Ludwig Beethoven II. Thompson was pulled even closer to his destiny when he met Josh Hogan, who had a lot in common with him, and Helen McKeen, who formally offered to walk him inside. During sixth period, Thompson realized that Hogan sat across from him in Health class and the two conversed, quickly realizing they had much in common. When Hogan revealed that he used to play baseball, Thompson revealed that he had a lot of baseball cards and gladly shared them with his new friend. He also saw Charles Hugh flirting with Valiera Nelson, who gave him the "evil eye" with an intense enough face to genuinely frighten him.

After a long morning of integers, Steven located a girl named Summer Petersen joined her shortly after she seated herself. Steven knew from the start that she was beautiful and loving deep inside, leaving him skeptical to why no one else liked her. They had a friendly conversation and quickly became friends. Both of them hugged. But with his cheek braced against Summer’s shoulder, he could see Emily glaring at him in her rage. He asked Summer why this was, and Summer revealed the Thunder Queen was Emily’s mother, and Emily certainly wanted revenge for her destruction. Steven was appalled that he already had an archenemy.[3]

Shortly afterwards, he encountered Petersen again, who baffled him with her snarky attitude and enhanced sense of logic. When he got home, he told his parents about who he had met, and he learned that his sister had already met Nelson. He realized several people were crowding inside the assembly in the dead of night, and when he peered in through the window, he saw that Watson "was up to no good".

Steven Thompson began consistently sitting with Josh Hogan in the cafeteria, where they would talk and laugh together. In the mix, he went on YouTube, which he did rarely, and realized that he had a subscriber, "SummerTheStarGeek". However, he did not realize this was Summer Petersen, but he subscribed back nonetheless. Mr. Ruth took over for the science teacher Mr. Fisher and taught the students how to make electronic drill ingots. Steven also took part in a fire drill.[3]

The Boy Trap[]

Three days later, he witnessed the project he had previously suspected Watson initiated, which turned out to be the Boy Trap being operated by several leading members of the Girl-Team, leading to the loss of his famous reputation. He attended a secret meeting that night, where Vincent Organa appointed him as the new Supreme Leader of the Armies of Organa. Thompson was very surprised, but he willingly rose to the position of authority. He also found an enemy in Preston Rumsworth, who continually criticized him until he was threatened physically.[3]

Attack in the cafeteria[]

Two days after the Armies of Organa's revenge plot was over, Steven Thompson was tripped by Ludwig Beethoven II, causing him to spill his lunch all over Emily Watson. Watson threatened Thompson, telling him she knew he meant well, "but still". She proceeded to burst out on him with a blowtorch. Thompson backed away in retreat, dodging several attacks from Watson as the entire older half of the school looked on. When he made for the fire extinguisher, Helen McKeen pushed him away, and he dove under a table. Watson pursued him, but he reared upward and shoved her off. He tried to ask Josh what was going on, but Emily was already regaining her footing. As Watson charged him, Vincent Organa threw Thompson his stinger and he drove it into Watson's torso. The fight ended when Principal Zambaux took them to detention. Steven tried to reason with Emily, but she merely told him that if he ever threw her mother's name around again, she would kill him for it.[3]

Beginning of the School War[]

An act of war[]

Afterwards, Steven Thompson had another secret meeting, which he announced through use of secret notes he slipped into the lockers of all the members of the Boy-Team's leading body, the Decemahead. In the meeting, Thompson announced that the Girl-Team was committing an act of war and provided the full details of the flamethrower-related attack. He gave everyone military ranks within the Armies of Organa. He also made Summer Petersen the second-in-command, an incredibly controversial decision. Vincent Organa claimed that Petersen was too inexperienced for such responsibility. Thompson defended the choice by pointing out that Petersen had been clever enough to induce several lackeys to their ranks and obviously had a strong regard for human life. Petersen promised to uphold the honor.

Leaving the building, Thompson was captured along with Petersen and Andrew Hendersen and imprisoned near Andy Ballard Arena, a stadium located in Draper.[3]

Battle of Draper[]

During a Girl-Team rally in the Andy Ballard Arena, Emily Watson revealed Steven Thompson and his allies. He watched in disbelief as Emily unveiled the corpse of the agent from earlier, whose name was Dyer, and she told her followers it was their job to spread the word that it was the patriarchy who was violent, not she. Then, while being watched by the entire Girl-Team, all three victims faced girls armed with guns, and continually did all they could to fight back against them. Notably, Petersen picked the back wire to her braces and used it to pick the locks on her chains, earning some reluctant admiration from Thompson. In his own attempts, Thompson tore open the wall and ducked behind it before bashing Natalia Thornton in the abdomen with a piece of rubble. Grabbing her gun, Thompson opened fire, forcing Thornton to retreat.

However, they were surrounded by every female twelfth grader in the school. Fortunately, the newly-formed Boy-Team fleet, led by Vincent Organa forced the army of girls gathering in the arena to flee and the three escaped. Steven took up a green laser sword and fought the girls alongside Summer. Finally, they were airlifted out of the arena. The Boy-Team allowed all three of them to escape and fight in the ensuing battle.[3]

Confronting Emily Watson[]

Summer and Steven pursued Emily Watson, the mastermind of the Girl-Team and, unbeknownst to them, a mutant. They gave chase across the street on a bicycle, where she led them to a hangar. Once they caught up with Emily, Summer, against the better advice of her friend, foolishly charged the warmonger with a headstrong attitude. It was the girl’s undoing: Emily slammed Summer to the floor with her fist, knocking the youth unconscious and leaving Steven to face Emily alone.

Thompson briefly spoke with Watson, trying to convince her to be peaceful but she refused. Despite all his attempts to resolve the conflict, it soon became clear that Watson had no intention of keeping the peace, and they dueled with their weapons. Thompson put up a valiant fight, however, his skills proved no match for the more powerful and experienced Watson, and he was soon incapacitated as Emily electrocuted him and was preparing to deliver the final blow just as Summer recovered from the punch. Summer disarmed Emily of her baton, throwing a brick, saving her best friend’s life in the process. Raising her fists, Summer unleashed a flurry of attacks, which caught Emily off guard at first. However, without any training, Summer lost the fistfight and was kicked down the stairs to crash into Steven.

At this critical juncture, Vincent Organa arrived just in time to prevent Watson from killing an incapacitated Thompson and Petersen. Engaging Watson in a vicious battle, Organa gained the upper hand and was on the verge of victory, but Watson managed to escape.[3]

The Organa House[]

"Vincent, my place is here with Summer. She's wounded, she's disoriented, all because of me."
"She is wounded because of Emily. And because she wouldn't work with you as a team. Because she has trust issues. She's reached her teenage years, even if we haven't, and she must act her age. She has to accept her own faults."
"I'm not saying we're friends, but we're not exactly enemies.
"
―Steven Thompson reconciles with Vincent Organa[src]

After being rescued by Vincent Organa, Summer and Steven were transported to Vincent’s house for healing. Remembering the gift he had prepared for Spiddie, he gave it to her right before Vincent took her home. He proceeded to look for Petersen, who was awake when he found her, surprising and pleasing him. Confused, Organa said he thought Thompson disliked Petersen. He said she was all right, to which he asked why he would not leave her in his care. He said he felt he owed her one, but Organa blamed Petersen for being immature and having severe trust issues. Thompson made it clear he didn't like her, but he also felt obliged to help her, and they agreed they didn't trust her. Vincent told him he could not protect anyone without their consent and that he needed to continue improving, at which point Petersen arrived in the room, ready to begin training.[3]

Mobilizing for warfare[]

After that battle, Organa introduced Thompson, being the new Supreme Commander, to the members of his group's leading body, the Decemahead. It was his job to induce any new members and kick out any of them he considered unworthy. He kicked out two members, the first being Paul, whom he thought was mentally unstable, and the other being Dean Dixon, of whom he caught trying to make Dustin look bad, and whom he had previously caught trying to set off Sierra.

Following this event, Thompson began mobilizing the Armies of Organa for warfare, and gave a motivational speech before the entire organization promising that Emily Watson would be terminated at all costs. In the power vacuum left by Paul and Dean Dixon, he appointed Jamie Thompson, his own younger sister, a controversial decision. Aside from replacing Dixon with Summer Petersen, he reluctantly allowed her to become third-in-command of the organization, making several members angry, especially Organa. Their relationship got off to a bad start, as the pair’s personalities were constantly at odds; Petersen was introverted and logical, whereas Thompson was extroverted and headstrong. As time went on, however, their opposing natures blended them into an effective duo.

In the mix, he came to terms with several students, several of which he disliked or at least was wary of (like Charles Hugh and Blake), while being friendly with Cooper Miller and Corey Gonzalez, among others. He also got off to a good start with Luke Norris. He also supported Josh when he began drawing Java Pilot comics for the school newspaper, and like his two best friends, he achieved strong marks in his classes.[3][4]

Deal with the International Alliance[]

In July, Vincent Organa, believing they could work out their differences if paired together, dispatched Steven Thompson on a vital mission — to find and rescue the Magistrate’s kidnapped son Eegan, whom scouts had located at a deadly dungeon. The success of their mission was vital to completing Organa’s negotiations with the monarch for her army’s help and shipping routes critical to the war effort. En route, Summer gave the troops an account of how she “saved” Steven from oncoming Techno Drones during the Battle of Draper. Through Summer’s flying car, the Heartbreaker, they flew to the Burger King outlet where the baby was being held.

After securing the backline, Steven felt an aura of darkness nearby. After incapacitating two members of the Girl-Team, the pair found Eegan, who was found to be just a baby, and whom Summer thought was cute. However, the pair was confronted by Helen McKeen.

While Thompson engaged McKeen in combat, Petersen fought against the girls flanking their opponent. After disposing of them, Petersen briefly joined the clash, until Steven told her to get Eegan to safety. While attempting to do this, Summer accidentally set off a death trap that ended Steven and Helen’s duel in a draw. All three escaped, and Petersen met up with Thompson soon after. Both returned to the Heartbreaker, and simultaneously realized the baby was sick.[4]

Duel in Maryland[]

"I guess there's just a few things you can't have in common without liking each other, and this is a great example."
―Steven Thompson[src]

The Heartbreaker arrived at Washington D.C., where the Magistrate was supposed to meet them, but the ship was shot down by Aerial Techno Drones. The team survived the crash and made their way to Zira's city quarter. On the way, both Petersen and Thompson sensed a trap. At that moment, Emily Watson showed up and insisted they surrender Eegan, before assaulting them with a torrent of fire. After deflecting it, Summer and Steven once again engaged the young villainess in battle. Initially, the two used a combination of reckless and advanced techniques, catching Emily off-guard. Eventually, Emily pushed Summer off to the side to deal with Steven alone. While Steven drove Emily up the stairs to the front door of the city quarter, Summer dealt with the Aerial Techno Drones that Emily had brought to distract the two. Realizing she could not win, Emily flipped onto a car.

When Summer awoke, she found a data pad that had fallen out of Emily Watson’s speeder. She gave it to Steven, and together they managed to infiltrate the city quarter and deliver Eegan to a herald known only as "The Else", who prepared to bring him directly to his mother. However, the Else still believed the two were using her mistress and ordered them killed. Luckily, Summer was able to show the Else the data pad, revealing that Emily Watson and Helen McKeen were responsible for Eegan’s kidnapping, and that they had done it to manipulate the Magistrate into supporting their side. Once the truth was made known, the Else regretfully revealed that the Magistrate's forces were all stationed in Iran. Summer was disappointed, and playfully pointed out that on the bright side, Steven still had Summer herself. The Else assured them that the Magistrate had already agreed to do what she could for them, on the condition that they would bring Emily to justice. Summer promised that they would do what they could to help.[4]

Meeting with the Administrative Office for his long-awaited appointment, Steven Thompson discussed a threat that concerned him greatly: a union between the Orc Devil allegedly dwelling in Thunder Quarters, and the Dark Lord. Afterwards, Thompson and Petersen were picked up by Jay and Vincent Organa. They began bonding over the shared experience.[4]

Soon, there was a school art party, and numerous Boy-Team members attended as they were ignorant that it was a trap that ultimately led to Emily Watson detaining dozens and putting Steven Thompson in a coma. Coming to investigate, Josh and Summer spectacularly defied Helen McKeen and caused her to fall down past the structure holding up the building. They then rushed to stop Watson from executing Thompson via fire and managed to free all the boys. Petersen used ice therapy to wake Thompson from his coma; Thompson realizes that Tower Placement is no longer safe due to the ongoing war.[4]

Summer Petersen's assignment[]

Shortly afterwards, Steven Thompson arrived home to find Summer Petersen was already there, talking and giggling with his mother Tanesha. She had come to help him with his homework. Thompson pointed out that she should have called first, but they still began working in good spirits. It was through working with Petersen that Thompson finally realized why he was her only friend. It was because she had bad social skills, and Thompson agreed to teach her, and in turn Petersen taught Thompson more about technology. Thompson gradually came to accept the fact that he needed to find balance in his life, though in all fairness they taught each other that.

During one such lesson, Thompson assigned Petersen to breach Emily Watson’s computer files in the underground base. Although Petersen's mission ultimately turned out to be a failure, she did reveal that the underground base was abandoned, though it was patrolled it to ensure the Armies of Organa did not take it. Thompson thought they had something else in mind.

Two days later, Thompson learned a few things about a member of the Girl-Team named Valiera Nelson whom he had been intimidated by for a long time. Most importantly, Nelson had recommended two songs by Insane Clown Posse (ICP) to Petersen, tricking her into giving away her hacking methods so Watson could know what they were. Thompson and Petersen agreed they had no idea whether Watson knew that Petersen had been in GT-1 Base. To lighten the mood, Petersen introduced him to her YouTube channel, SummertheStarGeek and he watched a few of her videos, one of which was called Painting with Petersen: Episode II: Primary and Secondary Colors. When he became perturbed that someone on the site called "Satan" joked about coming to the underworld as a legend, Petersen jokingly asked as to what the Devil was doing on YouTube.

Two weeks later, Petersen changed her fashion style completely, something Thompson found very pleasing and fitting for her. Petersen’s next assignment was larger - to act as a double agent for the Girl-Team and uncover their secrets. On that same day, Steven and Josh helped carve pumpkins.[4]

News from Aidan[]

Steven Thompson was hanging out with Josh Hogan when they were visited by Aidan. The Boy-Team scout had just lost his best friend, Tyrone, to Cera Lewis. Aidan was very upset over Tyrone's fate, though Hogan was able to help him calm down. From him they learned of the Bow-Tie, an allegedly almighty superweapon being constructed by Helen McKeen.[4]

Battle of the Bow-Tie[]

Knowing a counterattack must be prepared, Thompson formed a battle strategy and assembled the Boy-Team to explain it to them. From this they prepared a group of skyfighters to penetrate the station’s superweapon, and hopefully the entire station. He hoped the Boy-Team bombers could outmaneuver it and bomb the spherical center, destroying Emily Watson once and for all in the process.

Thompson flew with his compatriots in the Battle of the Bow-Tie. As they charged the Supreme Ingot, the wing of Thompson's fighter was clipped by the turbolasers and his damaged ship landed in a hatch within the station. Thompson took off and briefly searched the halls for Watson, finding her in a dark chamber. Their ensuing fight ended with Thompson disarming Watson inside an observatory tower, but before he could kill her, Petersen called and reported that the Bow-Tie would have to be destroyed from within. When he found Petersen, she told him they would plant bombs in the main control center, causing a chain reaction. Their Plan B would involve taking the controls and driving the Bow-Tie into space. There, the Bow-Tie would freeze and crack.

When they returned to the war station together, they fought their way to the higher levels, where Watson was waiting for a rematch. After he evaded Techno Drones in an attempt to catch up with Petersen, Watson followed him to a bridge, forcing him to fight her. Watson won this time, disarming Thompson easily and torturing him with lightning. Thompson, however, was rescued by Micheal Watson, who fought Watson himself, ultimately leading to his demise. Petersen grabbed Thompson and they rushed for their ships with Andrew Hendersen in tow, flying to a nearby station where Robert Iego took them to the capital ship. Steven declared their victory and they headed for the main ship. However, his arm was broken, and he would end up wearing a cast for several days to come. In the meantime, the war station was finally destroyed thanks to Hogan, Gonzalez, and Petersen's actions.[4]

Aftermath[]

Steven began bonding with Helen McKeen and would consistently spar with her, in addition to helping her with the class pet program she had organized. During this time, he helped her take care of a sorpak from Uranus, whose name was Squeaker. Later still, he got back on Facebook, and unknowingly for the last time due to Caius and Ambrose’s disparaging comments.[4]

―Steven Thompson and Charles[src]

A week later, the Weekly Acorns confirmed that Facebook had been shut down (though students still had access to e-mail). Following the capture of nearly every member of the Decemahead, Steven Thompson initially wanted to team up with Summer Petersen, only to find out Petersen had helped initiate the kidnappings. He went to Andrew Hendersen's house as a result, wondering if he had escaped, only to encounter Charles Hugh there. Helen McKeen walked in, saying she was with him too, before having a panic attack when Charles briefly explained the situation. Thompson managed to calm her down and told her that he would continue to fight and it was her choice to stay or engage, promising to accommodate whatever her needs were, but he assured her that if she continued fighting, she would be a true member of the Decemahead, and by extension, the Armies of Organa. Thompson's words proved effective and they moved to rescue the leaders.

The three Boy-Team members fought their way through the defenses to GT-2 Base, which was already under bombardment, and managed to infiltrate the base, only to find the prisoners being held at the very top floor, monitored by Emily Watson herself.

Thompson, McKeen, and Charles fought against Watson, who furiously retaliated against all three of their assaults demanding that they leave her alone. Watson tried to separate the group, but she eventually smashed Thompson into a wall, knocking the wind out of him. However, McKeen and Charles managed to best Emily Watson, who fled from them.[4]

A mystery solved[]

Steven Thompson arrived first and by himself, and he finally located the Orc Devil, determined to confirm months of suspicion.

Thompson retaliated quickly, leading his friends into a frenzied battle aiming to fish the Orc Devil out of the basement, where thousands of nuclear weapons were waiting for her. He lunged forward on a rope, where he karate-kicked her in the eye, but it was not effective at all, something which increased his fear. Unfortunately, he was quickly overrun by his enemy, who deduced that the nukes had been provided by Pleasant Grove, and left to destroy the city. Thompson and Petersen forcefully hitched a ride as she took flight toward the unsuspecting town, leaving Thompson dumbstruck at the horror he had unleashed.[4]

Pleasant Grove[]

"I wouldn't think any less of you. We were all ready to fight the Orc demon to the last breath. All that matters is that you're still alive, still out here, still willing. Logical thinking at your age… there were no more desirable choices for you, were there? You knew if you didn't do what felt like a suicide mission then everyone else would die with you? Then you have nothing to be ashamed of. If you could have escaped trying to save yourself, and did, or could have escaped from the Orc Devil independently and chose not to, then maybe you'd lose my respect. But you did everything you could, and when you could do nothing but a fatal strike at the enemy faction, you bravely jumped into it, quite literally, and accepted your fate. That is courage, not weakness."
―Helen McKeen[src]

As Hilary J. Black began burning Pleasant Grove, Thompson followed her to the top of a large tower and after seeing the Beast was about to ensnare Summer Petersen, he proceeded to leap into the Orc Devil's mouth while Josh Hogan, Helen McKeen, and Tage Elwood distracted her, though they clearly were not expecting this. Falling deep into her digestive tract, Thompson began hacking away at her esophagus in order to find her heart. Finally, he found it and cut it to pieces. The Orc Devil could have been used to disastrous effect by Mr. Stupid NoHead, and now she was perishing. He emerged from its maw, albeit covered in venomous blood, and Helen McKeen rescued him by squeezing inhuman blood from his unconscious form and taking him to her own house. When he awoke, McKeen and Petersen were both kneeling by his bed with several Boy-Team members behind them, grateful for his slaying of the Orc demon. McKeen bent down and promised Thompson she would always be there for him, before tenderly kissing him on the cheek. Thompson was overjoyed, but then he noticed Petersen crying and leaving his house. Sammy told Thompson Petersen had a huge crush on him, which he denied.

Thompson's parents were livid in regard to what had transpired, and reprimanded him for his role in the destruction of Pleasant Grove and forbade him from going back to school for a week. During this time, he came to consider his means of nearly deserting the Armies of Organa an act of pure suicide and cowardice.

After his punishment was over, Thompson was surprised that he could not find Petersen at any location that she usually enjoyed hanging at. Initially, he had failed to realize that she was jealous of his apparently intimate relationship with Helen McKeen. He also encountered a student who ignored him, only for him to realize the student was dumb upon seeing his hand gestures.[2]

Dating Helen McKeen[]

"Yet this time, he liked the feeling. Somehow, it made her even prettier than the others. And of all the unexpected recent events, this was the nicest. Kissing Helen was dizzying, but certainly not in a bad way. Her lips were warm and soft and perfect, and he felt safe. After a moment, the two pulled a little apart. Steven's eyes remained shut. He felt her breath against him, her hand warm and soft on the back of his sternum."
―Steven Thompson and Helen McKeen kiss for the first time[src]

At the end of the day, Steven Thompson walked home from school with Josh Hogan, who updated him on what had been going on since he had been grounded. Thompson was distraught that he was not involved, but Hogan told him he did not always need to be part of people's "drama", just because he was the Supreme Commander. He then found Helen McKeen working in her front yard, and opted to speak with her instead, as he doubted Hogan would understand what was troubling him most. He saw that she was busy and wearing slightly revealing clothes that effectively accentuated the fact that she was even more muscular than he was, and politely offered not to intrude, but McKeen warmly invited him in to discuss what was on his mind.

Stepping inside, Thompson told her he felt horrible for his perceptions of his actions at Pleasant Grove, but McKeen provided a logical explanation that his actions were noble, not cowardly, and assured him that she loved him more than anyone else at the school. She returned to mowing the lawn, but her cheerfulness began to fade as the machine bumped into a rock. Thompson playfully demanded that he let her finish and teasingly threatened to demote her for "disobeying a direct order". She began to calm her nerves as he finished the job for her. This event left him dumbfounded that he had failed to realize he had always considered Helen to be extremely beautiful and warm, and it, coupled with her saving his life at Pleasant Grove, were the two driving events that began their romantic relationship together.

Soon after returning, Steven was preparing to study with Cooper and Helen when he realized his backpack was missing. He then realized it had been stolen. Because he strongly suspected Caius had stolen it, he went down to retrieve it from Caius Staunton's locker, only for Ruth to catch him and give him detention. Thus, he was assigned to wash a sports car.

Steven had hardly talked to Summer, who he assumed was hanging out with Sierra all the time. He asked Terrek Courtney what she thought Summer thought, but Courtney just told him to talk to her. So once he spotted her on his way to class, he tried. Their encounter was brief, yet awkward and heated, and Summer turned to leave. Appalled, Thompson was left very upset, deciding afterwards to distance himself from the war, to an extent, and instead began concentrating on his personal life.[2]

The fusion reality[]

Arriving home for the night, Steven began to experience a form of a nightmarish dream, seemingly a vision of a possible apocalyptic future. Either Joshua Petersen or Steven himself was murdered by an unknown assailant sometime in 2027. His dear friend (and unbeknownst to anyone at the time, future significant other) was driven by her incredible grief to become extremely dark and malevolent, assisting the Black Queen and a second hegemonic superior in taking over the Solar System for her new mistress, creating an elite squad to aid her in her mistress' totalitarian regime, killing anybody who opposes her. Steven abruptly awoke again, though he did not believe that this experience was entirely a dream. This terrifying vision of a potential future led him to avoid both Summer and Vincent and act coldly towards both of them, greatly disturbing Josh Hogan, who helped him heal from his physical wounds sustained from the enigmatic reality warp.[2]

Making amends[]

McKeen convinced Thompson to go to the Homecoming with her. During the time they spent that night, he evolved his perception of life and became a vegetarian like his vegan friend.

Teenage Mota Corporation mogul Cara Mota came and gave a lecture and picked Steven, Helen, Marion, Edwin, Leigh, Aaron, and two others for a special project.

Eventually, Thompson happened to encounter Cody Ort, who was yelling at Josh Hogan for blocking his hand so he could not copy his answers, and resolved to beat Thompson in front of him. However, Summer Petersen saw what was happening and told him she had spotted his friend at the end of the hallway watching him. Ort fell for it and ran to find them. Thompson was very surprised that Petersen had prevented him and his best friend from getting beaten up. Petersen realized how badly she had misjudged the situation. She told Thompson that the day before, she had witnessed Blaise Parton pinning Valiera Nelson against a wall until Charles Hugh stood up to him, surprising Thompson and causing him to decide that ultimately, he had respect for Charles. She proceeded to reveal that she and June had gotten him a new backpack as well as one for his sister Jamie.[2]

"That's twisted! We've got to find him! He must know something we don't."
―Steven Thompson[src]

Steven spent most of his spare time on the road catching up on missing homework Caius and Tom had stolen, despite Josh doubting he should.

Hours later, Steven Thompson intervened when Firefist was setting up charges to detonate a building. He used a rock to knock the detonator from the villain's grip, destroying it by hoisting it onto his laser sword and proceeded to engage Firefist, who unsuccessfully attacked the Destroyer of Thunder. Steven subdued him, though, unknown to him, he was being watched by Cara Mota the entire time via a CCTV camera in order to analyze the Destroyer of Thunder's capabilities, which firmly established to Cara that the rumors of Steven being inhuman and supernatural are actually completely false.[2]

Confronting Valiera Nelson's murder[]

"You're delusional! Summer told me all about you. No, Valiera, I'm talking about morons who proudly wear their hearts proudly on their sleeves, who have no emotional control whatsoever, who wallow in bad memories and let themselves get triggered this easily — in other words, weaklings like you!"
―Steven Thompson[src]

Steven Thompson later confronted Valiera Nelson for the murder of Corey Gonzalez, who agitated him by changing the subject to Helen McKeen, who they were both in love with, and questioning the extent of his forgiveness. He called her weak and criticized her for holding grudges and always acting so bluntly. Their argument was witnessed by several students, including Parton. At another point shortly before this, Charles followed Nelson in the bathroom, according to Parton, though Charles claims he only put his foot in through the door because he was nerved by her continually turning on the air blow dryer.

Later on, McKeen convinced him to play "hooky", or truant for the day, going on a second date. Steven spent the time and day with Helen, finding himself falling deeply romantically in love with her. Steven noted that Helen would never keep secrets from him, right before she informed him that Summer was doing quite well as an insurgent. The events of that night left Steven dumbfounded as he decided that Helen really was "something".[2]

In response, Steven and his friends battled and executed all the Elite Hall Monitors within the room. Zambaux then announced that Facebook would be reactivated, but Caius Staunton and Ambrose Melling would still have to wait for access to the site.

Final days of war[]

Revelation of Summer Petersen's duplicity[]

The following week, Thompson deflected attacks from Ludwig Beethoven II and began dueling Bailey. Seeing this, Emily Watson nearly cut him down, but Petersen saved his life, sacrificing her cover in the process. When Mr. Danny returned to the classroom, Emily Watson blasted him aside by firing a barrage of lightning. Choosing to divert to Plan B, Emily Watson immediately rushed down to the office and made a phone call to the police, fraudulently telling them the boys were trying to murder the Girl-Team in its entirety knowing the action would permanently neutralize the Armies of Organa.

The following day, Thompson learned that Danny had left the school altogether as a result of the grave danger he had perceived, much to his dismay. In the afternoon, Petersen sent a message to Thompson of what had just happened with the additional information that she was aware Watson had been planning this move for days, and it worried her. Now that her cover was blown, she believed there was no doubt she would be arrested as well.[2]

Imprisonment and escape[]

The students finished class with Danny, then moved on to the last period. Their new teacher taught calmly, though the boys could hardly process the information he explained. After returning to class with Danny, Danny did a lecture until Summer Petersen called the boys to the window in a strangled voice. The Boy-Team generals joined her at the window. Two police cruisers were pulling up thirty stories below. A few minutes later, the PA system burst to life and called Steven Thompson down to the office. Much to his dismay, Thompson knew Watson’s plan to neutralize the boys was working. He was driven away by his parents.

The boys were sentenced to temporary confinement within the walls of the prison, but they would only remain in prison for roughly twelve hours. Fortunately, Summer Petersen had a plan to escape. When she noticed a pole in her cell, she ripped a hook off the coat rack nearby and stuck it to the pole. Then she extended it beyond the jail bars, where the hook snagged the keys from the jail guard, who had fallen asleep. Then she reeled them in and used them to free herself. She tossed the keys to Vincent Organa, who freed himself and passed them down until everyone, including Thompson himself, was freed. But then Sean dropped the keys, awakening the guard. Before the boys could do anything, the guard triggered the alarm, alerting several jail guards and their commander. They opened fire, forcing Thompson to retaliate, but the boys were overwhelmed until the boys imprisoned upstairs were freed and came charging, forcing the guards to retreat after Cody threatened to expose the guards' allegiance with Xebel to the masses, causing them to stand down while Thompson and Petersen convinced the inmates not to follow them.

The time had arrived to breach GT-2 Base and ambush Emily Watson. The boys began to file out, but then the Warden showed up from behind and caught Summer Petersen by the neck, dropping his moral facade entirely. He taunted her and pushed her back in her cell and took her weapon. Closing the door, he turned to the rest and stated that Petersen would die, lest one of them take her place for life. Steven Thompson was about to step forward, but Jay Organa stopped him and insisted he would go instead, claiming the boys needed Thompson to lead them. Jay stepped forward. The commander seized him and locked him up three cells away from Petersen. However, when Thompson asked for Petersen, the commander chuckled, and said that the boys were too trusting of him. Still believing Emily Watson’s story, he insisted that he was keeping both of them for the rest of their lives and then ordered them out. Thompson claimed he would do so when the underworld froze over, before the Warden took to threatening to activate the nexus connecting their power signatures. Heading out, Thompson realized Josh Hogan had been taken captive and Melanie had been murdered by the dreaded Godslayer.[2]

Liberation of Utah[]

"You have the advantage, Thompson, coupled with access to my greatest masterpiece. What more could you want?"
"You wouldn't give me that. Forgiveness.
"
―Emily Watson and Steven Thompson[src]

After leaving the prison, the boys immediately traveled to Tower Placement, where they sneaked into the hallway for a surprise attack. Before they attacked, Thompson had McKeen give him the keycard to access the Boy Trap. However, he realized Emily Watson was coming and she knew of their presence, but McKeen urged him to leave, promising she would take care of Hogan. As battle broke out, Steven headed up a secret staircase. During this, he defeated Ward in a brief fistfight. Later on, he encountered Caius Staunton, besting him in a heated duel. At this point Caius revealed his true motives, causing Steven to understand him more, and provide encouragement instead of snark in response. Caius told him to take the stairs to the right to reach the gym. As he made his way into the gym, a climactic skirmish ensued downstairs.

Steven went upstairs to inspect the Boy-Trap, hoping to summon the monster that fought Andrew Hendersen and use it against Emily Watson. However, he was confronted by Watson in the gym, who hoped to put her mother to rest and end his life once and for all. Watson directed a beam of electricity at Thompson, but he retaliated, leaping onto the high tower and deflecting a subsequent blast with a makeshift shield. Emily grabbed Steven by the throat, and Steven used his free hand to grab her face and attempted to crush her head under intense pressure. Their attacks rebounded off one another and Steven was sent flying, painfully, onto the roof.

Emily immediately came on Steven and taunted him on a psychological level. Initially, Steven has no will to fight, believing she is right and his friends are finished leaving him with little to fight for. Just as Emily was about to lay the death blow, Summer returns, calling for Emily to stop. Upon hearing Summer’s voice, he suddenly stands and fights back with a renewed vigor in knowledge that he will truly see Summer again. With that, Emily’s rage exploded. Using her hate and anger to boost her physical prowess, Emily attacked Steven with such intensity that Steven was taken completely off guard by Emily’s sudden increase in power, and quickly driven onto the edge of the roof. An increasingly insane Emily continued to hammer Steven with vicious power attacks until Steven lost his weapon. She prepared to kill him on the spot, but Steven lunged forward, disarming her and beginning a vicious brawl. He grabbed her feet and slammed her against the roof face-first, twice, before attempting to send her flying off the tower. His blow was not quite hard enough, and she sent him reeling against an electronic fixture, making him land painfully on his side.

As the fight continued, Watson taunted Thompson about his motives and delusions that cowardice would win the war. However, Steven was able to overpower her in combat and restrain her, holding her over the roof headfirst. Emily finally dropped her pride and asked Steven to hear her out, which he initially ignored. But upon realizing that he is turning into everything that represented Emily himself (not to mention that Summer of all people would never allow him to take the latter's life, despite her animosity towards the revolutionary), Steven instead spared her life and warned her to give up her genocidal crusade while still refusing to listen to her words, hence permitting her departure from school grounds. Just then, Summer arrived at the roof and called out to Steven, who turned and climbed his way up toward her. Reuniting with Summer, he happily embraced her, but was then slashed in the back by Emily, this sudden twinge of excruciating pain causing him to fall unconscious as his eyes rolled up into his skull. He was not awake to watch Watson annihilate Vincent Organa when he attempted to avenge Thompson's perceived demise.[2]

The death of Emily Watson[]

Moments later, Thompson awoke to see Summer Petersen and Emily Watson counterpoised, moments before Emily’s spectacular demise. He was shocked and heartbroken when he saw that Summer had been dealt a fatal blow. Steven managed to grab ahold of Summer and pull her onto the roof. Summer smiled at seeing Steven, who ensures all will be well with their reunion at hand. Unfortunately, the weak Petersen could only express gratitude over seeing Steven one last time before she died in his arms. Steven begged her not to leave him and, sobbing over Summer’s dead body, admitted his love for her.

As Steven continued sobbing over the loss of his love, shimmering beams of light fell onto Summer. Summer’s body then began to float in the air and is enshrouded in a fog. Steven watched as Summer’s clothes and fingernails mended and her eyes matched his. Summer then turned to Steven, who initially looked at her skeptically, but then he believed her explanation of her rebirth. Steven and Summer then hugged, and their love unleashed the full magical effect: any damage done to the school from the war mended itself, and several fallen Boy-Team members awakened from the dead, including the Organa brothers. Many families who went into hiding slowly returned, including Kaitlyn and Bronson.[2]

"Steven knew he wouldn't be the same after everything that had happened. There would constantly be times when he got a flashback of the Orc Devil tearing apart Pleasant Grove. Or Summer crying unexpectedly because she killed a nine-year-old Girl-Team member whose worst crime was standing behind Emily with a gun in her hand that she never even got to use. Or Steven hating himself for agreeing to avenge the wretched Boy Trap in the first place. But she was always there to comfort him with her slender, loving arms and tender, creepily seductive voice. With each passing night the urge to say something to her became stronger than ever. He knew it was inevitable."
―Steven's thoughts after the war[src]

Steven Thompson became very sad after the war, feeling like with Emily Watson's demise, he had no reason to live or to face the consequences for his actions. Summer Petersen, who was also traumatized, continuously comforted him, and the two began spending time together on a daily basis. Thompson also acknowledged that he loved Petersen romantically, not Helen McKeen, and felt guilty for spending so much time ignoring her romantic feelings for him. This realization was heavily caused by her near-death experience on the roof of Tower Placement, coupled with her being the one to comfort him while he was feeling suicidal, which made him think she was the one he could never live without.

Together, Steven and Summer decided to write a book — or a blog — to preserve the memory of those who died. Shortly afterwards, he felt well enough to conduct a victory celebration, and had since renounced his suicidal mindset. During the party, he announced that the Armies of Organa had achieved peace and even invited Petersen to dance with him, lovingly holding the girl in his arms. Despite strongly fearing the opposite, he had actually achieved strong marks in his other classes as well, including Physical Education, and was voted Most Creative in The Weekly Acorns End-of-the-Year Awards.[2] During the summer of 2022, Steven went on vacation to Oregon with his family, including Jamie, who had returned for the holidays.[5]

Rise of the Cavaliers[]

The start of open war[]

When Natalia Thornton created the Cavaliers of Thornton and began rising to power, Steven Thompson consulted with Josh Hogan and Helen McKeen. With the rest of the great factions being far too preoccupied, Thompson and McKeen announced the return of the Armies of Organa.

To his utter dismay, Petersen approached him and warned him that she might be spirited from Provo and into hiding against her will. Despite losing Petersen Thompson remained a huge contribution to the resistance against the Cavaliers. He and McKeen battled reformation with reformation by turning the Decemahead into the Head of Twenty.

For the first time in his life, Steven Thompson, having been encouraged to by his mother, chose to forgo trick-or-treating for the year. Instead, he called his friend Trinity over and they watched a horror movie.[5]

Recruiting Charles Hugh[]

In November, feeling that he would not be able to fight Natalia Thornton, he asked Charles Hugh for help. It was rumored that Charles was seeking Valiera Nelson's approval on Thompson's orders, as he believed her help would be invaluable. These rumors reached the Guild of Gourds, and a delegation, including Nelson's cousin Simon, was sent to Tower Placement to question Thompson. In December, Steven was very disappointed to learn Jamie Thompson would not be returning to Utah from Massachusetts for Winter Break.[5]

Battle of Orem[]

By January, Steven Thompson oversaw operations at the Boy-Team's recently-established Ulysses Quarters in the city of Orem. When the Armies of Organa were forced to evacuate, Thompson coordinated the event.

As wave upon wave of boys fled to Masculine Quarters, prepared to protect it, Thompson called Charles, who told him he could not afford to sneak out a third time, leaving Thompson disheartened. During the battle that ensued, the Armies of Organa broadcasted a distress signal to their allies, but received no response, with Thompson lamenting that hope was lost. However, Josh Hogan, who was fighting by his side, rebuffed him and ordered that a last-ditch effort be made as the Armies of Organa began preparing for a final stand.

As the Armies of Organa contemplated their next move, Charles Hugh unexpectedly appeared to the group, shocking Thompson, and he provided an invaluable distraction by personally confronting Natalia Thornton alongside his friend, Luke Norris. Thompson escaped with Helen McKeen on the Hawkeye. An intense pursuit through the forest was conducted on Natalia Thornton's seemingly erratic orders. Despite much Cavalier effort, the Cruiser escaped to the Classic Fun Center in Clearfield, seeking asylum from Helen's old friend, Carol.

In the weeks after the battle, Thompson began taking several classes aimed at his career goals after school hours, and became competent in things such as budgeting, marketing, and culinary arts.[5]

As the growing conflict against the Cavaliers advanced, Steven Thompson realized that Summer Petersen was missing, and that he really missed her. During a private meeting between four members of the Head, Thompson revealed that Petersen had indeed been forced to leave, outraging McKeen. The latter said if she did not return over the next month, she would be sought out by Boy-Team forces.

Eventually, Thompson enlisted Andrew to go into the forest and search for both Petersen and the Maze of Ventilation. As they prepared for departure, Helen McKeen wished him luck and kissed his cheek. Thompson promised he would do his best, heartened, McKeen gave him a beacon to find his way back. Afterwards, Thompson went to Josh Hogan and asked him to accompany the duo, but Hogan claimed that Vincent Organa had already discussed the matter with him and insisted that he stay behind. Thompson and Andrew took off to find Petersen's exile and the fabled maze shaft. His absence left McKeen as the High General.[1]

Arriving in an outcrop to set up camp, Steven Thompson taught Andrew how to pitch a tent. However, he was alarmed to learn Andrew had brought a holographic transmitter, and he asked if he could look through it. Andrew consented. Thompson searched through the list of links, only to realize the only ones he knew were Bob, Charles Hugh, and Dustin.

During the search, Thompson spent a lot of time contacting Charles. In February, he contacted him while he was at an arcade. However, their conversation was cut short when Charles disappeared to play laser tag, returning with excellent results, which earned him Thompson's praise. Thompson grew amused when he heard Charles arguing with Nicholas Phee about Valiera Nelson. He asked if they had contact, to which Charles merely claimed it was complicated. However, this led him to deduce that Charles was definitely in an abusive situation.

Two months after his disappearance, and around the time he discovered Jamie's hologram transmitter, Thompson was shocked to discover the whereabouts of Summer Petersen, who he had spent much time searching for, through a YouTube video that made him realize she was at the edge of the forest near the infamous Maze of Ventilation. He told McKeen at once, who accompanied him along with Charlie Corner, a foreigner whom Thompson had not yet met.

As Steven Thompson greeted Hebe early on in May, it can be inferred that she still went to Tower Placement School and that she was still on friendly terms with him. After Charles Hugh spoke with her, they contacted Steven Thompson on hologram on May 15. Hebe told him Val Quintana and Carl Alex were both gone, and that she did not like Rose Johannson because she did the same illegal drugs as Alex. She gave Charles a hi-five when he cited good riddance to Alex and Kayliah Galibraith. Helen walked in and asked what was going on, to which Thompson claimed it was nothing. However, Andrew left that night to "take care of some business".[5]

The two hid in a grocery store called Kent's. However, they were, apparently, awaiting Andrew. While they waited, they wandered around a store called Kent's. Andrew arrived, and they all headed for the Petersen House in McKeen's van. In flight, however, they were assaulted by Falgamas. Despite destroying the majority of savage birds, their ship was forced to crash-land in the grass. The trio was forced to finish the walk on foot.

At last, they found Summer Petersen in her home. By then, it became obvious that Petersen's skills had rusted to some degree. She was slightly out of shape and she had not been without a real battle for several months. Despite this, Petersen willingly took action after Thompson quite literally swept her off her feet in a tender embrace.

Just then, Liv Emerson converged and began firing at the five Boy-team members. On Petersen's insistence, they managed to board the Heartbreaker. Thompson hung on for the bumpy ride as Petersen piloted the ship through the Graveyard until McKeen could incinerate the fighter chasing them. Home free, the Heartbreaker flew into the sky and toward Thompson's house.

Once inside, Thompson kissed Petersen in the kitchen. This moment was extremely confusing to Thompson, who wondered what he would actually do with his life, when Petersen pointed this out. This also made him feel increasingly protective of her.[1]

The following morning, Steven Thompson was disturbed to learn from Summer Petersen that Joshua Petersen had been tortured and that the Cavaliers of Thornton knew of the planned ambush on Memorial Day. During breakfast, he also learned that McKeen was Natalia Thornton's sister, something he had known for a while and a secret that was finally out. When Vincent and Jay Organa visited the Thompson house, Thompson arranged a secret meeting with them. At two o'clock, he assigned everyone their positions and announced the return of Summer Petersen.

The following morning, they all arranged to go to Seven Peaks Waterpark along with the other members of the quintet. While there, Thompson accompanied Petersen and helped her feel better now that she was around hundreds of people again. The celebrations were interrupted with the news that the waterpark was under attack by Natalia Thornton, and Zachary Brown arrived, disturbing Thompson by briefly groping Petersen. As Charlie Corner Teleported Andrew to safety, Brown teleported himself, Thompson, Petersen, and McKeen away from the danger back to Thompson's home.

Once at supposed location of the secret doorway, the quintet desperately searched for a way past the field, but were unable to find it. Utterly disappointed, the Boy-Team members began to make their way abroad, but Petersen stayed behind, refusing to give up so easily, and noticed a point where she deduced Thompson must touch. She called after Thompson, but he was rude to her, beginning an argument that ended with McKeen tripping Thompson and threatening to murder him outright should he touch Petersen in a harmful way. After Thompson apologized, they successfully entered Thompson's house. Inside, everyone prepares for bed and Thompson and Petersen shared a second tender moment together.[1]

Victory at Tower Placement[]

Thompson took charge during a vicious skirmish at Tower Placement, dividing the available fighters into groups and assigning them to defend certain areas of the school. He was briefly seen dueling several Cavaliers at once. Ultimately, he was captured by Cera Lewis and brought before Natalia Thornton, who attempted to corrupt him. However, Thompson resisted her, which would be easier than usual since Thornton's wand had been destroyed, recovering his laser sword and engaging her in a duel. Thompson won, and although he was hesitant to kill her, he finally did - or at least, he thought so. Thornton faked her death. However, Thompson regretted "killing" her without a second thought.

Returning to Tower Placement School, Thompson embraced a relieved Petersen, who assured him "killing" Thornton was a necessary act. Unfortunately for both of them, she disappointed him by returning to her family's hideout, and Thompson once again was left behind and alone. Without Emily Watson and Natalia Thornton, all was lost for the Cavaliers.[1]

Aftermath[]

Getting used to a normal life[]

"Hey big guy. I'm just bored and need someone to talk to. You doing all right?"
"Wow, embarrassing honesty much? And yeah, I'm fine, thanks for asking. But I have to get off and go to after-school. We can talk at eight, all right?
"
―Summer Petersen and Steven Thompson on Facebook[src]

The imprisonment of his best friend, Helen McKeen, devastated Steven Thompson. This, coupled with Summer Petersen's second departure, left Thompson emotionally shredded, as he had just barely accepted that he had feelings for her. With a lot of work to do now that the war was over, Thompson worked extensively and dubiously with hopes of reuniting with Petersen when it was safe to return to Tower Placement School, which had sustained extensive battle damage. In the mix, he began bonding with Charles Hugh, who had finally decided he was loyal to the Armies of Organa despite being too old to join them outright.[5] While Jamie Thompson tried to convince him to wait, because Petersen promised she would return, Thompson was worried she would not. Thompson also began attending an after-school program during the summer of 2023.

Nevertheless, Thompson remained in contact with his would-be girlfriend via Facebook. Sometimes Petersen would contact him because she needed someone to talk to. Thompson always considered his chats with her as the best part of the days they communicated on.[6] On June 8, Thompson attended the eighteenth birthday party of Charles. During the celebration, Thompson met Charles' mother, Leah Hugh.[5]

On August 24, Steven Thompson resumed his education, entering his freshman year. During this time, other students began to notice that he seemed "oddly lonely". At some point during the first semester, Thompson came to a rehearsal of Engage the Krosse in Zachary Brown's garage and accidentally insulted Brown by claiming he heard the distinctive mating cry of a Nepalese yak, as Brown had been singing a song by Eurythmics called "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)". Being fond of that song, Thompson began singing along. Band members Reggan Holme and Ian Freeman thought he was a better singer than Brown, so they asked him to join ETK as their lead singer. By authority of a group vote, Zach was still allowed in the band, but as the drummer.[7]

Eventually, Petersen revealed to Thompson that she would be returning within the week on November 4, 2023 to complete her education. Thompson arranged to visit her at the Petersen House. When he came, Petersen's parents pointed him upstairs, where Petersen was waiting in her room. The two shared an incredibly sensitive evening and slept together for the first time, though they agreed not to have sex that night as Thompson felt they should ask for consent.[5]

Joining the Boy Scouts[]

"Well, guys? How do I look in my new costume?"
―Steven, to his troop[src]

In March of 2024, Steven Steven Thompson was induced into a Boy Scout troop along with Zachary Brown, Reggan Holme, Ian Freeman, and Copper, infuriating Brown. He joined rather late, as he was already in high school and all of his fellow troop members were younger than him, and he is never mentioned doing any scout-related activities in the past. During his first meeting, he was delighted to learn of a door-to-door sale for his scout troop, and was determined to win a customized scooter. He was supposed to sell wall hangings.

After the meeting, Brown arrived out of detention just as Thompson changed into his new uniform and stepped outside, asking for everyone's opinion on how he looked. Freeman gave him the last of the cookies his mother had baked, but Thompson had no idea Brown would show up and he felt guilty for eating it, even though Brown had missed the meeting. Thompson proceeded to give everyone a ride home, except for Brown and Reggan, who opted to walk. When he arrived home, he spent the night baking a batch of cookies for Brown, though he presumably realized it was too late at night to bring them to him yet.

Poster sale[]

"Oh, not a lot. Nineteen, I think."
―Steven Thompson[src]

On April 4, in the morning, Thompson called Brown a slob after he opened his locker and tripped on a cascading pile of papers. During the beginning of the sale that afternoon, Thompson initially had a great deal of luck, selling nineteen posters on the first day. Beforehand, Brown told him that a girl named Grace Tyler was attractive, confusing Thompson, who knew the two were enemies. After selling the posters, he made his way to Brown's house and gave a plate of cookies to Mary Brown, Zachary's mother, and asked her to give them to Zach as compensation for his missing out on the treat at their scout meeting. That night, Thompson donned his scout uniform prior to a play of Kidnapped, where he set up a booth to sell posters onstage during intermission. Before the play began, he met up with Summer Petersen, who smiled flirtatiously at him. When intermission came around, he sold seven posters to audience members.

As he continued competing for the scooter, Zachary Brown continually approached him, trying to encourage him to spend more time with Grace Tyler. Thompson was unaware that Brown was trying to get him and Tyler together, as the ploy would kill two dirbs with one stone: he could have more time than Steven to sell, and Thompson would hopefully "dump" Summer Petersen, who Zachary would then cozy up to. Thompson perceived that Brown had a crush on Tyler.

The Math Bee and the jamboree[]

"I don't understand. He just lost something he worked really hard to earn, and yet, he feels happy for me."
―Zachary Brown's surprise at Steven Thompson's sportsmanship[src]

On April 7, the Tower Placement facility posted the Math Bee roster, which Thompson had applied for. He was pleased to see that he had made it into the contest. Grace Tyler and Reggan Holme had also made it. He spent two days there, but some time after returning to Utah, he perceived that Brown had a crush on Tyler and announced it to the school, something he eventually apologized to Brown for. Thompson ended up winning second prize for the wall hangings sale, and won a telescope. He congratulated Brown for his hard work, surprising him, and he proceeded to invite the members of their scout troop to accompany him and set up the telescope.

In the summer of that year, Steven and Summer officially began dating, which Summer announced on her Facebook profile.[7]

High School[]

Beginning his freshman year[]

Like his girlfriend, Steven Thompson played a relatively minor part during the 2024–25 school year. Both of them became peer tutors in English class for their former teacher, Garcia. They were announced along with the other staff on stage. Petersen came on first and Thompson followed after, wearing a tuxedo and top hat that, according to Zachary Brown, made him "look an awful lot like a wizard". The two would monitor the other students and check out Vines on Petersen's phone. Pleased by his promotion, Steven's parents urged him to quit Engage the Krosse so he could put that time into being a good peer tutor. After this, Reggan Holme and Ian Freeman quit as well, leaving Zachary Brown disheartened. In December, Thompson's drawing was featured in the display case outside Keaton's Art Classroom.[7]

To Vietnam and back[]

"War can do things to people. Vietnam has some chances for me to get some better knowledge and understanding. So for the next six months, I will live with eleven strangers in a vast and rather expensive tent."
―Steven Thompson[src]

On their way to English in February of 2025, Summer Petersen and Steven Thompson greeted Brown and his best friends, Reggan Holme and Ian Freeman, even though Petersen was having a rough day. In class, Thompson gave Brown a dirty look after Petersen was informed by Grace Tyler that Brown was writing her a love poem. During lunch that same day, Thompson was able to calm Petersen by hugging her after Brown accidentally spilled tomato soup all over her. After helping her calm down, the two went into the unisex bathroom, where Thompson helped a sputtering Petersen clean up. The two went to the Cave Room afterwards.

The report regarding the potential continuation of the COVID-19 Pandemic was the last straw for him to make up his mind and accept an opportunity to travel to Vietnam to seek enlightenment and obtain much-needed help after the two great wars. Unsurprisingly, Summer, to say the least, did not take this well, leading to him having a recurring argument with her that other students, including Zachary, took as indicating they were breaking up. Steven promised Reggan Holme a souvenir upon his return, and surprised Zachary by making it clear he appreciated and liked him. However, when he said one last goodbye to his girlfriend, Zachary deliberately ruined it by obnoxiously playing solitaire loudly at the same library table. He proceeded to depart from Utah and over the next six months, he lived with eleven strangers in a tent.

In August, Thompson returned from Vietnam, at which point Petersen was currently holding a part-time job at a daycare, and the two immediately rekindled their relationship, much to Brown's chagrin. The two would often hang out in the library or the gym. He decided to follow her example and get a part-time job too, being accepted at a repair shop. Unfortunately, Thompson's father Tyrone lost his job in October. Thompson was informed of an opening at his workplace by Petersen, who was at home. Petersen told him of the questions he would likely be asked in his forthcoming interview to prepare him for his meeting with the manager. Petersen also put in a good word for Thompson with the latter's boss. As a result, Thompson successfully obtained his second job, allowing him to efficiently help his family until Tyrone would be reemployed early in December.[7]

"Zach, I totally understand. Sometimes you wish that you were me. I get it, because sometimes I wish I were you!"
"Er… why?"
"Is it not so obvious, Zach? Life in sixth grade was so exciting compared to now. While you always get in the middle of insane happenings."
"Would you, er, reconsider… joining the band?
"
―Steven Thompson reconciles with Zachary Brown[src]

Steven Thompson was informed that their band, Engage the Krosse, had been enlisted to perform for Tower Placement. He was initially enthusiastic and honored at the idea, but after Brown asked him to get his notes from his backpack, Thompson found the aforementioned list of insults, infuriating him and prompting him to quit the band, as Brown had promised to leave Petersen alone and clearly had no intention of honoring his word. His anger was such that he "wasn't himself" and refused to tell Petersen what had just happened. As a result of Thompson's departure, the performance turned out to be a complete fiasco.

Days later, Brown approached Thompson and apologized, and encouraged him to rejoin the band, which he did. He expressed to Brown that he understood his envy of him because he sometimes wished he was in Brown's position, as he considered life after the war to be relatively boring. He also pretended he had sustained a leg injury when he was paired with Leven for a three-legged race, as Brown had asked him to and said it was Petersen's idea. ETK subsequently played a different song in front of the school, during which time Thompson told Brown he felt happy for Leven.[7]

Battle at the Temple of the Relinquished[]

Cut

Thompson leaning against a wall and watching Petersen masterfully slice apart a mango.

"Yeah, things out there're changing all right. Just like last time. I always hoped our fight with the Cavaliers would be our very last, but I can't let the two women I love most get crushed by the International Alliance."
"This is why we're mobilizing?"
"There's a storm coming, Andrew. Best be ready when she does.
"
―Steven Thompson and Andrew[src]

One morning in 2025, Thompson awoke and found Petersen, cutting a mango for a cobbler and wearing a white tube top, which was surprising because it exposed her attractive midriff and she usually covered everything. He asked her why she was awake so early and decided to leave, fearing that she felt awkward with him staring at her, but quite the contrary she begged him not to leave, as she found his presence to be soothing. After leaning against a wall and watching her, he told her she could take any candy in the house if she wanted it. Overjoyed, Summer threw herself onto him out of nowhere. They then started kissing passionately and lied on the floor. She wrapped her legs around his thigh and ground her bloated belly into his flat one, as they continue to kiss. He kissed her neck as she provoked him to grope her corpulent midriff, but then he stopped and said to stop. She did not want to hear that, though, and began tugging on his pants. Steven grew anxious, telling her this was not her, but she sat up and said it was, trying to kiss him again. He backed away from her and suggested she calm down. Immediately feeling regret for touching him up like that, she broke down crying and cited that she would never see him again. When he asked her why, she explained that she made a blood oath with Vincent Organa two years ago. Alarmed, Steven offered to get her a shirt and brought her one while she was still lying down. Getting to her feet, she told Thompson that she and Vincent and Jay Organa were going to rescue Helen McKeen from the enigmatic and nearly mythical Magistrate.[6] Thompson was initially opposed to the idea, and he spoke with his girlfriend about his concerns — concerns stemming from Petersen's willingness to embark on what seemed like a suicide mission. Thompson saw his chance to tell Petersen his story of Bailey Bastian and how he had been forced to destroy him. They also briefly discussed the desire of their old enemy Cara Mota to become President. They ultimately compromised — Thompson would bring a squadron of fighters if necessary. Thompson reluctantly returned home, expressing his doubts to Andrew.[1]

Steven Thompson eventually discovered what hotel Summer Petersen was staying at and went to a nearby lodge called Tolahav Station with several of his friends. They went to her hotel and arrived in the hotel craft room to work together and make a gumdrop cake, a particularly heavy cake made with hundreds of gumdrops, to celebrate his beloved girlfriend coming of age. To his surprise, Summer discovered what he was planning when she happened to arrive in the room they were using and she helped make it. He tried to kiss her before leaving back to Tolahav Station, but she nervously recoiled and awkwardly waved as he headed back.[6]

Thompson eventually lead three separate teams of fighters to the Temple of the Relinquished after the quartet liberated McKeen. Somehow, he also convinced Valiera Nelson to accompany Team One. He commanded the squadron to attack when the Magistrate sent out her own men to stop them. While Charles Hugh and Luke Norris shot a hole in the side of the Gemotre, Thompson planned to enter the limousine in person. However, he was forced to break off when the Cavaliers of Thornton emerged out of subspace seemingly from nowhere. Ultimately, he got a second chance to forcibly infiltrate the enormous limousine, and to his utter surprise, he saw Summer Petersen had been forced to wear a skimpy turquoise bra and remain by the side of the Magistrate, a handsomely tall and stunningly beautiful woman who was huge and bloated around her middle, which was accentuated by a frilly pink midriff dress, only to now be taking advantage of the surrounding chaos to brutally beat her down. Furthermore, she let slip her real first name, "Zira", the same girl she had been so close with for the last three years, shocking Steven down to his very bones.

When Summer attempted to impale Zira with a spear, Steven jumped between them and held against the spear with his far more muscular arms, saving Zira. Infuriated beyond endurance by her "sister" making her live a lie for such a long time, Summer didn't relent, but a pleading look on Steven's face expressing "Baby, don't do this" gave a wordless understanding between the two. The spear was settled down, but the Magistrate unleashed a fiery crimson alpha beam from her throne and blasted Steven in the back, causing him to collapse to the ground. After Summer took his daring gesture to heart and incapacitated Zira to be the bigger woman, Steven smiled up at her in relief. She tenderly yet briefly kissed him on the lips and asked him to throw her a nearby first-aid kit, only to amuse him when she failed to catch it in her delicate hands. Picking it up, Summer began rubbing ointment on Steven's wounds. He took the chance to hand her her laser sword. She wrapped him in roller gauze and he tenderly hugged her, and he then made for the top deck of the limousine, his business in its interior more than attended to, intending to board a Patrol Pod and fight aerial. In the chaos that ensued, an unknown member of the International Alliance gravely injured Thompson. His face and arms were slashed and ripped, and because of the nature of his wounds, they were contaminated. Nevertheless, his allies successfully dominated the International Alliance.[1]

Where things work naturally[]

Steven Thompson met down on the ground and embraced Summer Petersen, who showed that she loved him no matter what he looked like. However, he would need medical help desperately, and so he returned home, where Summer Petersen stayed and helped him recover. He took several hours to regain consciousness, eventually waking Summer, alarmed at the current size of her gut. After Helen left, Steven told her she should leave too, but then he blanked out again. Hours later, Tyrone saw he was just waking up and informed Summer, who had kept to herself for most of the day. Despite being relieved by her presence and admiring her short blue tye-dyed shirt exposing her bloated belly, overstuffed with a huge dinner delivery, he dismissed her again, wanting to heal on his own since he regretted getting involved at all. She refused to leave his side until his scars healed. Josh came over in the morning to keep his girl company and even brought both of them breakfast. Summer confessed that she had sneaked into the basement and eaten a huge amount of sweets.

At last, Steven Thompson was well enough to return to Tower Placement School with Summer Petersen, who had earned the reputation of "tyrant tackler". On top of his intense feelings for her, Thompson clearly considered it an honor to be in love with the woman who got rid of the Magistrate. Subsequently, Steven solemnly went to the funeral of Joshua Petersen, after which Summer ended up taking him to the grocery store with her after he realized he had recovered enough to go out in public without suffering debilitating side effects of his condition. Much to his horror, she broke down into tears, admitting she was haunted by what she had experienced and seen in the Royal Palace of the Magistrate. He realized that her psyche had taken just as much damage as the flesh around his face, and he promised he would do anything he possibly could to save her from her own freshly reawakened trauma, especially because his own psyche had finished healing so recently.[1]

End of term[]

Steven, openly worshiped on Mercury.

"It's just us… I just wish it was just us, here, forever in love…"
"Aw, Summer, don’t say that. All of our friends are here. We've fought by their side, argued with them, laughed with them, comforted them… been willing to die for them. And where did that lead us? Here, Summer. The happiest romantic couple in the universe. Zira’s gone, Natalia's gone, Emily’s gone… everything is going the way it should, my sugar durian, my tyrant tackler…"
"Hey, you seriously gonna let your girl wear that in public?"
"What do you think? If you're too insecure to 'let' your girl be a badass, you don’t need to be dating one.
"
―Summer Petersen, Steven Thompson, and Sammy[src]

While on Mercury in May of 2026, Steven Thompson saw a TV news report of a girl stuck in a burning factory and boarded a ship to save her. After saving the Mercurian girl, Steven approached the crowd of people, and the civilians all surrounded and stretched out their hands towards him, eager to touch the legendary young man.[8]

After the end of the 2025–26 school year, Steven arranged a party at his house to celebrate the graduation of all of his peers. Summer Petersen had just received her high school diploma, which may have been what inspired him to throw the party early, so Petersen and her friends could come. Petersen helped him arrange the party and kissed his cheek while they held hands before she quietly said guests were about to arrive. The attendees had made all they could out of the event. Early on, he bumped into Summer near an alcove and they embraced each other. She handed him her suggestive shirt she had been wearing over her bra a few minutes ago and began stroking his scarred flesh, and although she admitted that part of her wanted the two of them to be alone forever, Steven was quick to call her out on this, acknowledging just how genuine most of their friends really were and citing that everything was finally going as it should. Suddenly, Sammy approached them, condescendingly asking if Steven would permit Summer to be in public wearing her American flag bra and black pants and numerous necklaces and bracelets that exposed and emphasized her delicate arms, fleshy backside, and bloated belly. Steven pointedly told him he was secure enough for it to not bother him in the slightest and that he otherwise would not need to date someone as "badass" as Summer. Summer elaborated by telling Sammy an ideal girlfriend was one he could not control, making Steven smile at her before he went to play outside. During most of the party, Thompson remained out of doors and posed by a slide for a photo taken by an undisclosed guest, which Petersen witnessed. Later on, there was a ring fight between several partygoers that Helen McKeen won, impressing Thompson and prompting him to fondly congratulate her. He promised to give her her gift in the morning and in private.

As the hour grew late, the party reduced to everyone hanging out inside, either dozing off or mingling quietly. Deciding to go to bed for the night, Thompson approached Petersen, who he said was in charge before asking her to ensure everybody left before five o'clock. He also said Petersen could have as much leftover cake as she wanted. When he awoke in the early morning and went downstairs, he found Petersen "organizing" the refrigerator. After admitting his mind was blown that her stomach was bulging more than ever before, he finally admitted he knew she was going through a huge emo phase after the Magistrate fell. Petersen told him Brown had been hitting on her, triggering her and resulting in the middle-schooler being beaten. Thompson, who was sympathetic for her, went outside to clean up with her accompanying him. Feeling airy, and needing "the comfort of evidence", Thompson put his hand on Petersen's shoulders and made an imminent proposal of marriage. Grinning, Petersen said yes.

At some point before the party, Steven had an extremely awkward interaction with a male student implying he was curious about engaging in an intimate relationship with a male or even the student in question. Steven had confessed to Josh Hogan that he didn't want to tell Summer about it or it would be a long time before she let that go. Quite the contrary, Summer thought he was bi-curious, which she didn't judge because she had always been bisexual, but the encounter didn't make her question his loyalty to her as a mate at all, which would later incite him to show the same lenience on a fairly similar occurrence in which the roles would be reversed.[1]

During his senior year, Thompson spent a lot of time hanging out with Zachary Brown, as they both missed Petersen and agreed they would have gotten along far better if Petersen had stayed for the school year.[8]

Adulthood[]

"Marry me, Summer…"
―Steven Thompson[src]

Ultimately, Steven Thompson married Summer Petersen and she gave birth to a child, whom she and her husband named Tyson, at which point his dream career as a professional rugby player had finally become a reality. In 2036, the primordial alien conqueror Genesis initiated the Melanization, and Summer showed Steven Thompson a concerning TikTok video posted by the The Ghost diabolizing the Band of Justice as supercriminals and revealing the galactic code of Valhalla along with a joke regarding Terrans speculating what that even means. The revelation shocked Steven because Jay Organa had messaged him recently to tell him about his new extra-galactic friends.

Now framed as a cosmic delinquent, Jay messaged him and asked if they could meet and then came to seek his help as darkness engulfed the entire universe. He first spoke with the Vice President Chris Bass, who, having learned of Summer's recent promotion, meant to encourage Summer to buff up her public image. The three met together at a company headquarters. Summer, who was on the phone, distrusted him and sarcastically inquired if she was meant to give interviews or be recorded dancing for Steven. Steven proceeded to give Jay the floor, tell him it was okay to keep the lights off, and suggest some people he could meet for assistance, promising him that he believed his innocence wholeheartedly as did Summer, who promptly confirmed this. He proceeded to go to an underground club where he believed he could use some unusually advanced exercise equipment.[9]

Physical description[]

File:Steven Thompson BVG4 promo.jpg

Steven in 2026 after one of Zira's men scarred his face.

"What's it to me? Every inch of scar tissue is just another reminder of how gutsy my boyfriend really is. Besides, I'd say I'm hot enough to keep both of us booked, and he's still not bad-looking in any sense of the word."
―Summer Petersen regarding Steven's scarring[src]

Steven Thompson was a strong, healthy, and extremely athletic adolescent. He was 167 centimeters tall as a sixth grader and his Body Mass Index is 25.8. Steven has fair skin, dark brown hair, and green eyes. He was almost always seen in a blue, meshed shirt. He has also been seen in a black-and-white-striped sweater. He was also agile and wore a red baseball cap. Steven wears white-colored tennis shoes. Because he exercised consistently, Thompson had a generally slender and yet slightly stocky, and very muscular build, alluding to his exceptional physical strength. Sierra, Helen, and Summer have all acknowledged his handsomeness, with the latter citing that "he has teeth like piano keys", which was a compliment coming from the engineer, despite Sierra acknowledging it as a rather awkward and strange comparison.

In 2026, he suffered severe facial wounds at the hands of Zira Miranda Grover's forces during the Battle at the Temple of the Relinquished. Unfortunately, Helen Thornton realized that his wounds could never be treated totally, leaving him heavily scarred. At his graduation party, however, he looked so jovial one could "hardly bat an eye towards his deformities".

Personality and traits[]

"Well, I'd have to say I feel a mutual, albeit vastly conditional love for pretty much everybody…"
―Steven Thompson to Arcus[src]

Steven Thompson is strong, humble, solemn, and has a simplistic mindset, though wise beyond his years. Helen Thornton once claimed that there was no one in the universe who equaled him in kindness. Loyal and dedicated, Steven was very accepting, and he had a strong sense of leadership. Vincent Organa himself reflected upon Steven's considerable knowledge and potential; he also considered Steven a lot wiser than himself. However, he is also a flawed young man. But despite his considerable insecurities, he tries his very best not to show them to his friends, so he can seem brave and courageous, but he's not afraid to confront or comfort his friends with utmost care. Indeed, Steven had a strong friendship with Josh Hogan and Summer Petersen, both of whom not only helped him be a far better human being but also saved his life on countless occasions, the first being from an army of Techno Drones and Emily Watson’s death blow, respectively.

His character has developed very much since 2021. Despite being well-known among his peers as a popular boy and an icon of the Boy-Team, he originally had a terrible personality and was a very rebellious, vain, conceited, and arrogant pretty boy. He also had greedy and wrathful tendencies that were usually a disadvantage, and he was a considerably self absorbent preteen. His adventurous spirit is not intact in 2021 as well, as he was a more timid man compared to his future self. When he encountered dark forces in general, he displayed cowardice. Throughout the course of the School War, Steven began to develop a more courageous personality.

In 2023, his personality begins to upgrade, even more, learning to understand other people's rejections. Steven was extremely courageous, bravely risking life and limb on countless occasions for the Armies of Organa. He also possesses deep loyalty to a cause, such as the aforementioned organization or whatever sports team he plays on. When victory seemed all but assured for the Orc Devil, Thompson leaped into her throat, failing to consider the virtually impossible odds of surviving, in order to slash apart her heart she couldn't live without, showing his developing courage as early as the spring of 2022. His humble and soft-spoken demeanor belied his warrior prowess. In many ways, he slowly but surely came to represent everything Vincent Organa valued: steadfast, selfless, and modest. After his first scout meeting, where he was surrounded by much younger kids, he treated them with respect and went out of his way to show them kindness. He gave everyone a ride home, and made an entire plate of cookies for Zachary Brown because he missed out on the snack at a meeting that he had actually missed entirely. Generally, Steven assumed the role of a more cautious and conservative confidante to Summer Petersen, who was in many ways his equal in personality, despite their famously contrasting temperaments. Steven gradually learned to carefully measure his actions in any situation. Steven was also known to be an accomplished storyteller.

While he is convinced of his vast strength, and in spite of his reputation as the Destroyer of Thunder, he is also very modest, something noted by Mrs. Garcia. Still, despite his solemn demeanor, he behaves like a free spirit. Although never as given to humor as his friends, Steven still has an innocent sense of humor that includes mentions of how to rule the world and "banana puns" that is bolstered by his demeanor. He occasionally pretends to be spiritually possessed by Summer Petersen, even though possession is illegal, although this is often a coping mechanism for the frequent anxiety he dealt with in his early adolescence.

As a result of the events he has faced in his life, Steven developed a strict sense of justice and a code against killing people, including his own dangerous adversaries, as he stopped Summer from killing the Magistrate out of revenge for her orchestrating a war and trying to control her life after worming her way into it years ago. The empathy he shows to his enemies is even sometimes reciprocated, as shown with Natalia Thornton, who he is on very good terms with, as she thought of him when she sacrificed herself by lunging into a wormhole with a fell beast. The only time his mercy went fully unreciprocated was when he took Summer's words to heart and realized he would not be showing courage by being willing to hurt Emily Watson, but by being willing to spare her life, and this was because Emily was much too far gone and malevolent to even consider that she owed the Destroyer of Thunder her life.

Steven Thompson was accepting and treated all civilians with respect; this is shown by his initial opinion of Summer Petersen, even though the two constantly butted heads at first. As another excellent example, when Spiddie T. Spider warned the Armies of Organa of danger, Thompson was the first to take her seriously. After he killed a soldier, Thompson felt remorse later. After spending a lot of time with the girl of his dreams, Helen McKeen, he could no longer stand to eat meat. However, after his escape, necessity forced him to eat meat and he realized how much he missed it. He decided that moderation was a wiser concept than zealotry. Thompson also believes in second chances and redemption, such as McKeen, for example. He also once mentioned that he felt a mutual, albeit conditional love for virtually everyone.

Despite becoming a noble and honorable man, Steven was definitely not logical or committed to school, with Josh Hogan usually being the logical one in their endeavors. However, despite his abject disapproval of nerds, Summer Petersen pointed out his gift for mathematics, his knowledge of politics and his interest in the lore of Star Wars made him just as nerdy as she was. Indeed, Thompson is very politically knowledgeable for his age and has a patriotic attitude toward his country. By the time he became a high schooler, Thompson has begun taking school very seriously and fully embraced his nerdish side, though his attitude and flair remained. He not only applied to participate in the Math Bee, but scored high enough to actually enter, an experience he seemed to enjoy. He was also promoted as a peer tutor in high school. Steven is also orthodox in his views. He initially wanted to share in his friends' religious beliefs, before realizing that any other religious devotee would assail him with an equally strong sense of conviction. Despite being so intelligent, however, Steven was still in many ways considerably intellectually surpassed by supergenius Cara Mota, who easily manipulated Steven as a pawn in her grand scheme to destroy Tower Placement School, which only backfired because of Dustin's quick thinking.

Thompson can also be very insensitive, such as when he told Zachary Brown, in a fit of irritation, that he could never out-perform him (Steven) in anything. In an even more extreme example, he "blabbed" about his false perception of Brown regarding his archenemy, Grace Tyler, in a romantic way, and told Brown he did him a favor. He was also not one to let bygones be bygones. At best, he had a vengeful and at worst a spiteful streak towards those who did him wrong. This varied from wanting to murder/torture those whom had performed unforgivable acts like: Emily Watson, or especially the Magistrate, to a desire for pettiness towards Zachary Brown and his own parents. Having deduced that he was obsessively in love with her, Steven did not resent him because he reasoned they both saw something huge in the same girl, and later admitted he was dismayed that she was initially very mean to Brown despite his creepy behavior thoroughly justifying it.

While he hides his insecurities extremely well, he is never completely immune to them. He only vents his insecurities to Summer and Helen and in some cases Josh. Steven began dating Helen because she always made him feel secure and he dated Summer because he knew that they had always been at peace together and accepted that opposites can attract. Although his love life did not generally consume his affairs, he took it very seriously. This proved to be hardest for him after he was reunited with Summer, who was in love with him and gradually helped him realize he was in love with her. This led to lapses in his judgement and a sense of airiness that did not go unnoticed by Helen McKeen. This, however, along with a moderate sense of childlike lust he had prematurely developed towards Petersen, proved to be a brief phase.

In a great many ways, Steven has a pretty typical heroic personality for leading a noble cause like the Armies of Organa, being a shade of whom he had once been in his pre-adolescence. His personality reflects an ideal person consisting of good morals, a positive attitude with a selfless mind, he has a sense of justice and honor.

Personal tastes[]

Steven has never spent very much time on media such as television, music, or video games. Nevertheless, Summer Petersen's taste in music seems to have rubbed off on Steven, as he initially says he dislikes Rihanna and Krewella, but he later says Rihanna is "all right" and is eventually seen jamming to Krewella with Helen McKeen. He is also a "cat person" despite originally disliking insentients in general, a childish and fear-driven prejudice long since subverted. Steven is heavily against smoking and says it's "not cool". He is convinced that everyone knows this about him. He also despises Mars, the God of War and the namesake for the Red Planet, and he is also averse to anyone mentioning him, due to a bad experience he had when he was younger, although this indirectly resulted in his fairly racist regard (or lack thereof) for Martians.

On average, Steven Thompson ate an idyllic diet synonymous with his athletic way of life, and has futilely tried to encourage Summer Petersen to do the same. For breakfast, which he ate semi-daily, he always ate a small bowl of porridge with two small spoonfuls of Stevia with eggs and bacon, and would almost never get a second helping. For lunch and dinner, he always ate greens and rich proteins, which varied immensely depending on the meal. As for macaroni salad, it is self-explanatory for Thompson; it is his least favorite food of all time. In particular, Thompson’s favorite foods seem to be vegetable soup and broccoli casserole, meals that the muscular boy seems to enjoy eating on a sub-weekly basis.

Former powers[]

  • Orb Empowerment: Steven Thompson absorbed a slew of the Orb and was given a superpower of his own choosing.
    • Remote Scrying: To be added.

Abilities[]

  • Peak-human condition: As a result of desirable dieting and intense exercise, combined with the taxing assignments he carried out throughout the war, Steven Thompson has become a juvenile in excellent physical condition, bearing exceptional strength, stamina, and agility. Indeed, by bettering himself to his physical peak, Steven epitomizes many of the humanist beliefs of Cara Mota, inducing the latter to admire Steven, despite being her enemy.
    • Peak-human durability: Steven is also exceptionally durable by human standards due to his intense training. His muscles and bones are vastly denser and far more resilient than an average human. Hence, Steven could not be slowed down or fazed by falling from the rafters of a warehouse, allowing him to quickly land on his feet and begin his assault.
  • Master combatant: Even when he was a toddler, Steven was legendarily skilled in unarmed combat, which allowed him to bring down the Thunder Queen. Steven’s tight defense and energy-efficient moves stood him in good stead against masterful gunslingers such as Ludwig Beethoven II. His degree of skill with this was such that he was able to evade Longfellow’s barrage of laser blasts unarmed, and defeat him in combat despite the latter’s use of weaponry. After being trained by Helen McKeen, Steven became a master of throwing projectile weaponry with great accuracy and pinpoint precision, notably picking up on McKeen's fondness of using them to disarm his opponents, such as when he knocked a detonator out of Firefist's hand. He can also use them with lethal force, such as during the Battle of GT-2 Base, when he quickly threw one at an enemy's head. By April 2022, he was one of the only students who could duel the likes of Longfellow and Emily Watson on even footing. He also defeated a powerfully built security guard with his fist during his search for Mr. Ruth.
    • Swordplay: Steven Thompson was a hand in melee combat, and even before the Organa twins trained him with this particular weapon, he was initially unable to effectively counter the considerably more experienced Emily Watson’s skills during their confrontation in 2021. On that occasion, Watson’s elegant combination of various classical forms, and her elegant strokes and jabs worked away at Thompson’s defense; many of Thompson’s cutting parries missed Watson’s blade entirely, while Watson’s feints confused the boy and forced him to retreat, ultimately bringing him down. Following this, Steven chose to specialize in Mimssan; his relatively advanced skills were reinforced by his youth and stamina, which helped compensate for his relative inexperience. While he relied on the acrobatics to flank his opponents, and to facilitate his strong penchant for physical attacks, Steven also favored more simplistic and direct moves. In addition to Mimssan, Steven also studied Svarna and Chimiki. He also studied martial arts, and was very fond of chaining hand-to-hand combat strikes into his bladework. Steven also displayed an early interest in studying Stil VIII, but ultimately chose Stil III instead. Steven later attempted to create a hybrid between Chimiki and Svarna to compensate for what both negated. Though Mimssan was always his primary fighting form, he implemented elements of Svarna into his swordplay from time to time.
  • Gifted intellect: In addition to his incredible athlete skills, Steven is reasonably intelligent, as he possesses an Intelligence Quotient of 104 (placing her intelligence above 61 percent of the entire population[10]), and he hence proved an able student when it came to the school’s more general curriculum in areas such as physics and home economics. Steven was also a good pilot. He showed resourcefulness in several situations. Even as a small child, he grabbed one of many shards of broken glass and used it to kill Bailey Bastian. Still, he was unable to deceive supergenius Cara Mota, who was quick to see through the rumors that the Destroyer of Thunder was a supernatural being, thereby deducing (via CCTV) that Steven is actually only a mere man without any mutated powers. He was also utterly unaware of Charlie Corner's infiltration of his organization.
    • Expert leader: Steven (although not on the level of Cara Mota in brilliance and as he admits, Josh Hogan in terms of charisma) is an extremely skilled leader, able to successfully lead the Armies of Organa when the responsibility was thrusted upon him.
    • Expert salesman: A largely overlooked talent of Thompson's was his skills at brokering sales as a Boy Scout selling goods door-to-door when he was in his early teens. Indeed, Zachary Brown was continuously nerved by his skills as a salesman during his time as a Boy Scout. His charisma and intelligence helped him win second prize, a telescope, by selling fifty-five posters, which is implied to have never been accomplished before, with Brown only coming in first because he brokered a deal with Michelangelo VII, while Thompson clearly established a Boy Scout record based on pure unrivaled talent.[7]
  • Indomitable willpower: Steven has tremendous determination and strength of will, which make him an extremely formidable opponent, one who absolutely refuses to hunker down and give up, even when placed against seemingly insurmountable odds.

Weaknesses[]

Post-traumatic stress disorder: Steven Thompson was deeply traumatized by the murder of several of his friends and by his own extreme actions at a young age and developed PTSD after the end of the School War. Steven’s trauma was not as severe as Summer's and he eventually received assistance in his psychological damage during his later adolescence, eventually healing as a result.

  • Laser sword: To be added.
  • Backpack: A backpack was used by Steven Thompson to carry around textbooks, pens, and other items throughout his time at Tower Placement. It is very likely that this bag was used in his earlier education prior to attending Tower Placement. In 2022, it was stolen by Caius Staunton and Tom Goyle.
  • Second backpack: Later on, Steven was given a new backpack by Summer Petersen, Josh Hogan, and June Barton. He used it for most of the semester and continued using it after he became a high-schooler.
  • Alarm clock: In the start of his first academic year at Tower Placement, Steven was given an alarm clock by Zambaux. At one point, he turned it off instead of putting it on snooze. Steven had to repair the alarm clock in the summer of 2024.
  • Conventional attire: Steven Thompson owned several casual outfits he wore most of the time.
  • Sports memorabilia: To be added.
  • Holocards: Steven was known to collect Holocards.

  • 2036 House: A relatively opulent house was the home of Steven and Summer Thompson, along with their son Tyson Jay Thompson and their robot GTR-10.
  • Tower Placement School: Tower Placement School is a high school that Steven and his best friend Josh Hogan attend as students.
  • Utah County Jail: Steven was detained here for twelve hours.

Behind the scenes[]

  • D. Isaac Thomas was once asked if Steven Thompson was sapiosexual, which is an attraction to those of high intelligence regardless of gender, which could explain why he's extremely attracted to two extremely different teenage girls. Although he acknowledged the alleged evidence, Thomas confirmed he was completely heterosexual.[11]
  • D. Isaac Thomas has stated that he had planned certain moments from the start as a subtle comparison between Petersen and Helen McKeen, showing that Petersen was a better match for Thompson. Initially, D. Isaac Thomas was planning on giving Steven Thompson a bad habit of using foul language. This was later omitted for censorship reasons. A notorious example of this was when eight members of the Boy-Team were stuck inside a rollercoaster by Emily Watson's doing and the latter approached them, Steven said:
"I swear to hell, if you don't let us out of this damn crate … "
"I'm fucked?"
"Dammit, Emily, that's my catchphrase!
"
―Steven and Emily[src]

Author's comments[]

"Steven hates macaroni salad because I hate macaroni salad. If it were ever to come down to either eating macaroni salad or kissing Trevor Bones on the lips, I just might wrap my arms around that jackass' neck."

Reception[]

Steven Thompson has received mostly positive reviews. However, Melissa Vaine said, "Although Steven may be a good swordsman and adept at analyzing his opponents' next moves, he has much to learn about personal sentiments, especially his own." Chris has called him "cliched" before adding that his loyalty and kindheartedness were nevertheless enjoyed.
