"Never tell a girl what she's incapable of!"
―Paige Nelson[src]

Paige Nelson is the second member of the S.M.S.B. and the hidden central antagonist in Sebiscuits: Apocalypse and a posthumous antiheroine in The Super Babies: Revenge of Hell Burnbottom, The Super Babies: Final Clash of Brethren, and S.M.S.B.: Where Are You Now?. She is also a major grey character in Before The SMSB: The Legacy of Sheriff Bladepoint. Growing up in Esterphis, she harbored an interest in the police, and in her youth, she witnessed her hometown's ruination and her father's death at the hands of the Dark Lord Mr. Stupid NoHead. Nelson grew up to become a warrior who believed in harsh justice, possessing a burning hatred for the NoHeads and going to extreme lengths to exact her revenge, even to the point of initiating the Battle of Golgolod in 2023 and joining Baby Intelligence out of sheer pragmatism.

Eventually, Paige confronted Mr. Stupid NoHead, after the S.M.S.B. attacked the Arctic NoHead Research Park outright. Her plans to steer Sebiscuits Cardarphen onto a dark path to get him out of her way finally bore fruit at the perceivedly small price of her being tortured by the Dark Lord himself, until she was rescued by Baby Intelligence, the very child she was playing to become Cardarphen's enemy, who remained ignorant about her duplicity. However, a week later, Nelson revealed her true plans to endanger innocent lives in a raid of Palmyra from inside the City Volcano, engaged Cardarphen in a duel, and was killed by her former friend, saving the city from certain destruction. However, Nelson's more heroic memories survived and her spirit remained alive and appeared six months later to convince Cardarphen to return to Baby Intelligence, directly undoing the worst damage she had done and redeeming herself in the process, leading to Cardarphen and Baby Intelligence working together to restore the balance in the cosmos for decades to come. Her ghost later returned to visit Baby Intelligence, and they talked for the first time in three years. Later, she visited him again and told him the NoHeads’ ghosts were making plans to come back to life, after which time she embraced the afterlife openly for the first time. She battled Red X in Red X vs. Paige Nelson.

Biography[]

Early years[]

An aristocratic family[]

Paige Nelson was born in Esterphis, Mercury on October 17, 2014, and hailed from an aristocratic family. From the time she was a toddler, she always had a keen interest in the police, particularly the righteous Police Grand Army, as she found them fascinating. She also came to detest their sworn enemies, the tyrannical and draconian NoHeads. During the earliest years of her life, her father would frequently take her to the Mercurian Liberty Center, a children's museum where they enjoyed the numerous exhibits and programs to stimulate her academic thirst for knowledge she had always harbored. Paige had always delighted in that recurring experience.[1]

The ruination of Esterphis[]

Paige Nelson's youthful distaste for the NoHeads evolved into a deep-seated grudge because the Dark Lord Mr. Stupid NoHead ruined much of Esterphis to build a new dominion for the dark forces, and Nelson's father sacrificed himself to buy time for Nelson's mother to pick her up and escape the destruction. Nelson and her mother went to a nearby town where they believed they would be safe for the time being. Determined to avenge the death of her father and the destruction of Esterphis, she dedicated her life to stopping them in any way she could, even at the cost of innocent lives. At age five her powers developed in 2019 and she made a solemn and quite ironic vow to herself that regardless of what happened, she would always use them for good, no matter what.[1]

Four years later, as Paige Nelson was nearing her ninth birthday, she woke up in the middle of the night and chose to go on a walk. During this, she saw a group of NoHeads led by senior official Mr. Crooked NoHead rendezvousing at the entrance of Golgolod, which had been constructed from the remains of Esterphis, the very factor that had motivated the Pale Hand to squeeze her home into dust. Listening in, Paige figured enough to learn that the senior was planning to blow up Jade Sanctum with detonators in a crucial step to retake the Eight Worlds. Paige thought she must report this to the police at once, but before he could successfully flee Mr. Crooked NoHead caught her eavesdropping. Mr. Crooked NoHead welcomed her into the room and, after a brief confrontation, attempted to kill her. Countering the subsequent death beam with a force field, Nelson managed to flee the base, and rallied the message to the police.[2]

Subsequently, Paige Nelson rallied the police and convinced them to help her destroy the NoHead menace once and for all. To do this, she also brought up an invasion on the Town Hall that had been narrowly backfired. The Grand Army resolved to kill every NoHead inside the base where Nelson nearly died to catch them off balance. Leading the charge in spite of her doubts, Paige slaughtered venerable NoHeads and trainees alike. Nelson even killed Mr. Crooked NoHead by smashing him into a wall via missile.

While the mission was a complete success, Mr. Stupid NoHead, his children, and Annabeth Black all survived the assault. For two weeks straight, Paige was widely celebrated for her victory.[1][2]

Struggling to move on[]

Several months later, Paige Nelson returned to Golgolod to retrieve some information on rumored data pads that had possibly been hidden somewhere in the library’s vaults. Upon reflection, Paige felt guilty for all the killings, but still she believed that her actions were like any other duty of hers: she had completed it to the best of her ability and felt no remorse for any of those she killed. In fact, she felt that her mission was more righteous than anything she had done for her friends. In reality, Paige had gone to Golgolod to accept the killings committed there, so she could move past it, becoming stronger, and so that she would become docile in her current life. Subsequently, Nelson and her mother immigrated to North America and began building a new life in Albany, New York. She focused on school for the most part afterwards. Nevertheless, she greatly struggled to fit in with her peers.[1]

Becoming Baby Intelligence's comrade[]

The chase begins[]

Paige Nelson had always felt out of place, and when the S.M.S.B. was founded in 2029, she realized this must be her destiny. Additionally, she had just learned that the Second NoHead War had been declared official and it was only a matter of time before NoHeads sought out after the members of her stepfamily thanks to her prominent role in the Battle of Golgolod. After saying goodbye to her stepparents, she walked to the Acquisition District and easily spotted the partially constructed MBH and asked if she could apply. Recognizing her as the child who took down the NoHeads, and impressed by her manners, Baby Intelligence began testing her memory and knowledge. He then began to test Paige’s abilities through several vigorous exercises, including an obstacle course and IQ test, which turned out to be 102. Nelson was able to complete these with perfect accuracy. Her maturity was put to the test as well. Afterwards, she passed easily, and was introduced to Sebiscuits Cardarphen, the only other member so far. He proceeded to proudly show her his laboratory after somehow acquiring a sample of her DNA.[1]

Palmyra and aftermath[]

"I work with neonates."
―Paige[src]

Paige fought valiantly in the Second NoHead War. Although she trained hard, her first mission did not come for a week. Here all three members of the S.M.S.B. went to prevent the construction of a new NoHead base in a nearby city called Palmyra, and caused a delay in the process. Wanting to liberate Palmyra of NoHead occupation, she sneaked into Baby Intelligence's laboratory that night and took many things as she quickly formulated a plan to destroy a well, flooding the occupied city with lava.

The following afternoon, Nelson was informed that her mother, Mrs. Nelson, had been murdered earlier in the day, presumably by NoHeads. Subsequently, Paige went into a deep depression. It was at this point that her bond with Sebiscuits Cardarphen tightened, bordering on infatuation, a passive emotion forbidden among their ranks. Perhaps if the two had not been S.M.S.B. members and closer in age, their relationship may have become something more. Hence, Nelson invited him to join her on a midnight walk; he agreed to join her. However, things turned sour when an old man who helped to look after a NoHead factory branded under one Galfalor of Eris came walking toward the street. Nelson ambushed him while Cardarphen watched in shock. Nelson cruelly interrogated the old man and was about to hurt him when Cardarphen stopped him. He objected to the poor treatment of harmless factory workers, but Nelson declared that it must be done. Nelson stole the old man's wallet and left, Cardarphen reluctantly going with her.

Although Cardarphen confessed to sneaking out and informed Baby Intelligence of the incident whilst accusing Nelson of robbery, Nelson pointed out to Baby Intelligence that the old man was of the NoHeads and revealed a seismic detonator that the old man supposedly had on him. While Cardarphen remained wary of Nelson, Baby Intelligence was convinced by her and told her to go upstairs, to which she obliged.[1]

The beginning of the end[]

Paige Nelson was promptly alerted when Baby Intelligence prepared for a search for the new NoHead base of operations. However, a distraught Sebiscuits Cardarphen unexpectedly arrived and confirmed the base was in the Arctic. Baby Intelligence thanked him and summoned the others; then they boarded their Pinewood Derby along with Cardarphen. Nelson flew with them in her personal skyfighter. They departed to destroy the Arctic NoHead Research Park for good. As the fight began, Nelson watched Baby Intelligence disable an attacking NBV vehicle and decided to ride it to the base, and decided to take out one of her own so she could zoom after him.

They arrived at the front gate, where five robot soldiers spotted them there and alerted the entire army to their presence. Nelson retaliated, drawing her sword and fearlessly engaging the army, cutting one down with an onward backflip as she jumped off the NBV. She began fighting off the robotic hordes alongside Baby Intelligence, until she suddenly spotted the source of power to the outer robot sources and released a powerful force field in the form of a blast to destroy it. After this move cleared out the squad, Baby Intelligence realized there were still several gates preventing their entry. Baby Intelligence destroyed the gates before leading the others through two protective barriers (the second which Force Baby helped them bypass) and into the base itself. As the battle raged on in the hangar, Paige left upstairs, and Sebiscuits followed her angrily. There, Paige drew her comlink and rallied three police - Jason Williams, Caleb Hawkins, and Katy Smith - just as she had planned to do before the battle.

While she waited for them to arrive, she urged Baby Intelligence to look into the mind of the Dark Lord to see where he was. Then she told him to keep looking for the control room, where all three of them knew they could deactivate the robots and ultimately the base, while Nelson hunted down the Dark Lord and killed him herself, theoretically putting an end to the Second NoHead War. He warned her there was no going back, and she acknowledged she already knew that. However, Cardarphen noticed her leaving and followed her. He told her he was coming too, but she told him not to. Cardarphen warned Nelson that the Dark Lord was very powerful and they would need his help to defeat him, but Nelson urged him to stay out of it as she sensed much conflict in Cardarphen that could cloud his judgment. Hence, Nelson told him to rejoin the wider battle, then she and the three police crammed into a small speeder and headed to the Dark Lord’s observatory study.[1]

Showdown with the Dark Lord[]

Paige and the aforementioned group of police officers marched into Mr. Stupid NoHead’s office and, determined to avenge the ravaging of Esterphis, Paige promptly announced that the Enemy was to die. The Shadow ignited his sword and, with a murderous battle cry, flew through the air and smote one of the three sword-wielding opponents. Before he could strike from behind, Caleb was also smote to the floor by the Pale Hand. Paige and Katy managed to defend against the initial assaults, but overwhelmed by the intensity of the Dark Lord's malevolent wrath, Katy was smote in her turn. She perished where she lay, leaving Paige to fight the Dark Lord alone. Her mastery of Brosartt served her well in countering Mr. Stupid NoHead’s Dark mastery.

Mr. Stupid NoHead drove Paige back along the corridor to a laboratory, where Nelson eventually ended the bout and forced the Enemy to stagger back and drop his sword as he flailed for balance before retreating against the window frame. Cardarphen arrived just as Nelson pointed her blade at the Dark Lord's throat, making a wave of satisfaction wash over her. This was the tipping point, for Nelson realized the depth of the Dark Lord's trust in Cardarphen and realized he was already on the wrong side of history. Hoping to goad him, she promptly pushed the Dark Lord into a torture machine called the Death Booth to torture him and force Cardarphen's hand. Nelson immediately activated it, grunting with exertion. The machine seemingly deformed and melted away the Dark Lord’s features. Horrified, Cardarphen watched Nelson cause agonizing pain to the apparently helpless overlord. As they struggled, they each implored Cardarphen to help them, each trying to convince him of the other’s treachery. Eventually Nelson opened the horizontal tungsten door, ending the torture. The Dark Lord claimed he could no longer maintain his attack and that he had become too weak. After Mr. Stupid NoHead ceased his attack, Nelson announced that she was ready to eliminate the enemy of the free peoples of Sol once and for all. For, having just experienced first hand the true, terrifying depth of the Dark Lord’s power, Nelson now saw him as too great a threat to be kept alive. Still believing in the Dark Lord, Cardarphen told Paige that the Dark Lord wanted the greater good and that humanity was enslaved to their own primal instincts, but Nelson, despite considering this an alarmingly mature view for a little child, stated otherwise. Mr. Stupid NoHead pleaded for Cardarphen’s help, as Nelson moved to strike the Dark Lord.

Reacting in a moment of despair, Cardarphen set the teen’s sword hand on fire, the kinetic pressure powerful enough to crush bone tissue, leaving her defenseless against the full power of Mr. Stupid NoHead’s mutantry. Shocked, Nelson realized she had been too focused on the Dark Lord. Once again Mr. Stupid NoHead unleashed his rage, blasting raw Dark energy through Paige Nelson’s body, sending her hurtling out the window into the cityscape, where she would be rescued by Baby Intelligence, who intercepted her in an ornithropter and promptly caught her.[1]

Operation: Purge[]

Promptly, Baby Intelligence took her home and gave her a mechanical hand to replace the hand Sebiscuits Cardarphen had severed. The S.M.S.B. then went to the conquered Jade Sanctum so they could reconfigure the emanating signal that was drawing Grand Army survivors into a trap. They disabled the deadly beacon after cutting through several war robots, and saw the station littered with the bodies of fallen officers, who had been slaughtered with a sword.

As Baby Intelligence finished re-calibrating the coded signal, he felt he must know who was responsible for the attack. Nelson, having told Baby Intelligence it was Mr. Stupid NoHead who severed her hand as she knew that the revelation of Cardarphen's turn to the Darkness would cause Baby Intelligence pain, cautioned him before her master activated the security recordings. As they watched, they learned the truth and agreed that both individuals had to be destroyed. Nevertheless, despite helping to orchestrate Cardarphen's turn to the Darkness, she was able to maintain the charade that it struck right to her heart.[1]

While Baby Intelligence and Lori sparred, Nelson taught Baby Strength how to build a fire. In the morning, they all learned how to hunt pelts. That night, Nelson went to the well overlooking the city of Palmyra to finalize her plans to destroy it, ridding the NoHeads of their headquarters. When daylight arrived again, she played cards with Baby Strength and Force Baby until she took Baby Intelligence and Baby Strength to the City Volcano for lunch and got him to fill up the wells for her, telling him to use his telekinesis to ensure it was filled to the very brim while Baby Strength held it steady for them. They promptly departed and met up with Force Baby, arranging to make good on the Rear Guard's promise and finish what they started just as soon as they had the cover of nightfall.[1]

The last stand[]

"Kill me, and others will rise to avenge me."
"Then I will show you the true nature of mutantry!
"
―Sebiscuits Cardarphen and Paige Nelson[src]

Because Paige was a member of the S.M.S.B., she was part of the task force sent to the Fourth Dominion for a respite. Igniting her sword and charging into battle, Paige eagerly joined the battle between the newly formed Rocket army and the S.M.S.B. members that ensued in the lobby. She also destroyed the Rocket commander, as well as a gun emplacement. Eventually, Paige deserted the battle, boarded her fighter, and flew to a volcano. On her way to seize her weapon and detonate the wells, Nelson was ambushed by Cardarphen, who had followed her there. Cardarphen was horrified by Nelson's plan, but Nelson tried to convince him that it was the right thing to do. Nelson also told him that in all the times she killed "bad guys", it was never personal while he destroyed those she perceived as evildoers, but due to Cardarphen's relentless efforts to interfere with her plans, Nelson confessed that she personally plans to enjoy slowly cutting him up out of spite against him. Cardarphen called her out on this, correctly citing her words of justification regarding her callousness and sadism were the very logic used by humanity's great adversaries.

Letting out a vicious warcry, Nelson came down upon him with a series of vicious swings and jabs, which Cardarphen narrowly blocked before offering his own vicious counterattack, one equally aggressive and fierce. A sword duel began between the two, during which Nelson cut down several fuse ropes holding up the anvil above the well around the massive volcano, and Cardarphen kept defusing them, causing them to stop tearing up when reaching the middle prong holding up the central platform hoisting the block of weighted metal. As they furiously slashed at each other, Cardarphen angrily accused Nelson of mass murder, but Nelson defiantly told him that the sacrifices were necessary to ensure the safety of the entire country, but Cardarphen acknowledged that was the same logic humanity's adversaries commonly used. Nelson claimed this was for Jade Sanctum, but Cardarphen called her out on only wanting to kill him to satisfy her own selfish interests.

Nelson began navigating the volcano, hoping Cardarphen would follow her without managing to diffuse the cords, meeting everything he threw at her and unleashing devastating attacks with her force fields. For Nelson was able to draw on the torrents of Dark energy emanating from her furious opponent like a heat sink. Using Cardarphen’s own power against him, Nelson viciously beat him slowly backward with her superior martial experience, but realized that even her mastery of Brosartt would result only in an indefinite stalemate. Nelson intended to tire him out, but the Master Crown kept his stamina running for an indefinite period of time. But upon realizing she could not win and nobody knew of her duplicity, she accepted her time had come, knowing she would go down as a martyr, and let down her guard, grimly and somberly concentrating for a moment. After a brief moment of emotional struggle, Cardarphen loudly declared she would perish and cut her down with a diagonal slash of his blade. Although Paige Nelson's involvement in the war against the NoHead cause had ultimately come to an end, she was given a funeral, during which time Baby Intelligence and Nelson's stepfather sat in the front of the chapel.[1]

Legacy[]

Becoming a ghost[]

Paige Nelson chose to linger as a ghost rather than proceed forward, and she was evidently intercepted by Rotta Hecks, who had died in the same battle as Nelson, as she later told Baby Intelligence in spectral form that Paige was "just fine".[1]

File:SebiscuitsCardarphenandPaigeNelson-TFC.png

The ghost of Paige Nelson manifests before Sebiscuits Cardarphen, pleading for her old friend to renounce the darkness.

Two months later, and following his near death at the City Volcano, Sebiscuits in his state of subconsciousness saw an apparition of Paige in the MBH, who told her old friend that he was lost, but he had an incredible opportunity to be found. Sebiscuits called Paige just a ghost, but Paige told her old friend that she was his past and future and urged Sebiscuits to come home. Sebiscuits felt it was too late as Operation: Purge had already played out, but Paige stated that while many members of the Police Grand Army were gone, what they stood for and fought for wasn't. She further added that he didn't make the pillar crash onto Jade Sanctum and admitted she had no idea what incredible dark power could have accomplished that. Sebiscuits turned around and realized he was stuck to an operating table covered in prosthetics. When Sebiscuits turned back around, Paige had disappeared.[3]

In 2033, Paige's ghost returned to visit Baby Intelligence, and they talked for the first time in four years. Rotta Hecks joined the chat. Later, she visited him again and told him the NoHeads’ ghosts were making plans to come back to life. Baby Intelligence digested this information, but did little at the time to counter it.[4]

Impact on society[]

With Paige Nelson’s death, some, such as Tori Newell, believed the force field technique was lost. This was untrue, however.[5]

During the Battle of the Golden Gates, one of the proton bombs of the war vessels commandeered by the Police Grand Army succeeded in destroying a massive dreadnaught. The ordnance crew had a message inscribed on the bomb in German, stating "Paige says hi."[6]

Many years later, while Sebiscuits was mourning the death of Lindsay Kellerman, he said that he wasn't ready to become the new leader of the S.M.S.B. and that he still frequently remembered how Nelson's death was on his hands and always would be. Captain Strength appeared and said that Force Baby, Titanium Girl, Master Intelligence, and himself also weren't ready. When Sebiscuits asked how they had defeated the NoHeads with nothing, he replied that they won because they had each other.[7]

Paige Nelson was considered a legend in death, and her victory at Golgolod immortalized her on a Holocard.[citation needed]

Physical appearance[]

Paige Nelson was described as an approachable teenager with a genuinely pleasant demeanor and being attractive in a delicate and juvenile way, without being truly beautiful or captivating. She had casual blonde hair that went halfway down her back. Her eyes were brown, and she was five feet tall. She usually wore a series of pink long-sleeve shirts, both at the MBH and the battlefield, as she thought supersuits were overused stereotypes and privately worried it would send the wrong message when Palmyra fell. Eventually she would get a gloved mechanical hand for the one Sebiscuits Cardarphen took during her duel with Mr. Stupid NoHead, which she still sported on her astral arm as an earthbound ghost.

"You see, in war, sacrifices must be made. And through theirs, those of a worthy alignment will survive. This will not be in vain. Logic clearly dictates that the happiness of millions means more than the lives of thousands. After all, none of my brutality has ever been personal at all. But after you wrecked Jade Sanctum and have generally been a problematic child who's caused nothing but trouble in our community, I'm gonna enjoy making your death slow. I'll enjoy it very, very much."
"Well, you can kiss your artificial halo goodbye, because that's the kind of logic man's adversaries like using.

―Paige Nelson and Sebiscuits Cardarphen[src]

Being much older than her current comrades, Paige Nelson possessed a unique personality for an S.M.S.B. member; she was cautious to the point of occasional reluctance, a careful chooser of her friends, and slow to trust. These traits resulted in a girl that often came off as being solemn and intense. Despite this, she was extremely courageous, bravely risking life and limb on numerous occasions to uphold her beliefs in harsh and absolute justice. Due to her talent as a duelist and mutant, Paige was very confident to the point of arrogant, and she was especially well known for a relentless mood and an occasional sarcastic interface. However, Paige was also humble, having even admitted Baby Intelligence would always be stronger than her. Paige strongly believed in the S.M.S.B.’s role as the servants of the Eight Worlds, and treated all races with respect.

As Cardarphen got to know Nelson, he began to discover how truly dangerous the woman was. Ever since the NoHeads destroyed Esterphis and murdered her parents, Nelson was marked by her almost pathological hatred of the NoHeads. To her, everyone who was even vaguely affiliated with the NoHeads were guilty, regardless of whether they were involved with the Second NoHead War or not. Her outgoing, magnetic, and compassionate personality merely hid her true nature as a manipulative, traitorous and embittered sociopath who genuinely believed that manipulating Cardarphen and Baby Intelligence into a brief yet ferocious duel just to throw them off her trail was wholly justified. Ultimately, Paige’s true motivation for being a part of the S.M.S.B. was a desire to find her destiny and simultaneously help others, as her personal belief system was peace at all costs, but in truth, she was pragmatic enough to leave her stepfamily behind altogether in order to form an alliance with Baby Intelligence. From her view, peace was created by civilization, and she viewed the United States of America as the ultimate civilization, thus developing an attachment towards the institution, and leaving her with a willingness to do anything required to preserve it, even if it meant wiping out an entire city full of innocent civilians. She was cold and callous towards Cardarphen, admitting she had passively needled him to join the Darkness all this time and claiming that when it came to the "bad guys" she slaughtered, it was never "personal," but due to Cardarphen constantly frustrating her plans, she viewed him as a "rabid scoundrel" for daring to challenge her and by extension, she came to see him as the most obnoxious person she had ever met and that she would enjoy tearing him apart as slowly as was possible, intending to make his death last for hours, only for him to spectacularly turn the tables and make her death last for seconds. Yet Cardarphen himself would admit to being devastated by his act of taking Nelson's life, telling Lindsay Kellerman that he still loved his former friend despite her extraordinary callousness. After nearly dying, it would be Nelson's interference as a ghost that ultimately drove Cardarphen back to the Light, showing she had gained some perspective and was remorseful for the heinous crimes she had attempted to accomplish.

  • Force Field Projection: Paige Nelson can generate a near-indestructible, blue-tinged force field around herself or other targets, which she has used defensively or, with the right help, offensively. The field does not seem to deflect things like bullets, so much as stop them. If Nelson is not touchingly the ground when she creates a full force field bubble, she will levitate within it. Whilst levitating, she automatically moves with her force field bubbles. She can reorient her position within it, or even use her own body to propel it forward. This feature is what gives her force field its primary offensive ability.
  • Gifted intellect: Paige Nelson is an extremely intelligent teenager, with her intellect extending itself to her remarkable tactical, deceptive, scientific, engineering, and combat skills, with her possessing an Intelligence Quotient of 102 (placing her intelligence above 55 percent of the population[8]), helping to support this. As a Mercurian nobility, Nelson has educated herself to become smarter than her enemies and allies. She taught herself to speak four different languages, and was able to deduce that making Baby Intelligence think Sebiscuits Cardarphen was committing insubordination and making Cardarphen think Baby Intelligence was negligently leading him to die was going to put them into conflict with each other. However, she is notably not quite as intelligent as the extremely malevolent and consummate Mr. Stupid NoHead, with the Shadow thereby successfully outsmarting and manipulating Nelson into helping guide Cardarphen under his thrall, with Nelson never suspecting that she was in fact the Dark Lord's pawn, and figuring it out only her duel with Cardarphen.
    • Expert tactician: Paige is an extremely formidable tactical and strategic genius, often using cunning and planning to effectively assess combat situations and come up with effective strategies, and successfully outwit stronger and more powerful foes, rather than simply outfighting them, using any of their exploitable weaknesses to her advantage. Hence, she was able to mastermind a series of events in order to get her revenge against the NoHeads for the destruction of Esterphis and the death of her father by manipulating Sebiscuits Cardarphen (by making him think Baby Intelligence was neglecting him and callously allowed his would-be death in an enemy research facility) but also to successfully outsmart and manipulate even the extremely acute Baby Intelligence (by making him think Cardarphen had long harbored fantasies about indulging some undisclosed dark desires of his heart and seized a golden opportunity to commit insubordination within the Arctic NoHead Research Park to proceed to plot his demise so Baby Intelligence's only logical choice would be to fight against this perceived enemy).
    • Expert deceiver: Paige is an immensely formidable deceiver, as she was able to superbly and easily deceive even the extremely sharp Baby Intelligence.
    • Expert manipulator: Paige is a highly accomplished manipulator, even more skilled than the Godslayer, as she was capable of steadily, with remarkable ease, turning Baby Intelligence and Sebiscuits Cardarphen against one another by orchestrating several events capable of swiftly inciting their rage.
    • Expert scientist: Paige is a brilliant scientist, highly skilled and knowledgeable in a vast array of scientific fields, and being able to calculate a plethora of chemical substances with a variety of effect.
    • Expert engineer: Paige is an immensely formidable genius in vehicles' operations and general engineering, often helping work on S.M.S.B. aircraft, and constructing a highly intricate Rube Golberg trap to pull the magma and acid through Palmyra to the Fourth Dominion, which only backfired because Sebiscuits destroyed it.
    • Multilingualism: Nelson is fluent in English, Spanish, Japanese, and Russian.
  • Gifted pilot: While not as adept as Baby Intelligence, Paige is also a fairly skilled pilot, especially for her age.

Relationships[]

Baby Intelligence[]

Baby Intelligence had always taken a shine to Paige, the second person ever to join the S.M.S.B. During their first lesson, Baby Intelligence gave Paige one of his “rare smiles” during her first performance on the training field. Intelligence was also disappointed when she insulted Force Baby until he was in tears, and reprimanded her before helping Force Baby calm down.

In the battles they faced, both of them remained side-by-side. He further showed his high regard of Paige by giving her permission to visit his laboratory alone, with the promise not to touch anything.

When Paige was killed by Sebiscuits in the eve of 2020, Baby Intelligence jerked as if he had been cut upon hearing the news. He visited her grave several times in his life.

When Baby Intelligence sensed Paige was in mortal danger at Mr. Stupid NoHead’s hands, he deserted a battle he was fighting with the sole intent of rescuing her. Baby Intelligence was a role model for Paige and both had much in common, in beliefs, preferences, and personality traits. Furthermore, both had a love for learning. Knowing she was far older than him, Intelligence even allowed Paige to instruct him on certain aspects of how the world worked, further displaying his trust and liking of her.

Katy Smith[]

Paige has been friends with Katy Smith ever since the Battle of Golgolod.

Mr. Stupid NoHead[]

Mr

Mr. Stupid NoHead, a grave enemy.

Ever since the Battle of Golgolod, Mr. Stupid NoHead saw Paige as his mortal enemy. He tried to kill her twice, but both attempts were thwarted. Like Baby Strength, Paige had a seething hatred of him, and although she wanted to hurt him, she knew such feelings were disapprovable among the S.M.S.B. ranks. After an attack on the new NoHead base, Paige tried to kill him only to be stopped by Sebiscuits. Ironically, Paige was the reason that the police were destroyed because her extremism enabled Mr. Stupid NoHead to convert Sebiscuits to the way of the NoHeads and gave him the pretext he needed to activate Operation: Purge.

Paige Nelson quickly developed a good relationship with fellow associate and superhero Sebiscuits Cardarphen. She treated him as a younger sibling. When Sebiscuits joined the Darkness, Paige was heartbroken and only resolved to fight him because Baby Intelligence made her try. Paige intended to make Mr. Stupid NoHead pay for tempting Sebiscuits to become evil. Not long afterwards, she re-encountered him in the City Volcano. Sebiscuits engaged his former friend in a final swordfight, expressing contempt for her due to her perceived role in the apparent choice Baby Intelligence made to betray him. However, after everything, both duelists felt grief over their shattered friendship, but this did not prevent them from using the full potential of their sword skills. When Paige left herself wide open, not willing to live without her close friend, Sebiscuits cut her down, not knowing it was a ploy to distract him.

Behind the scenes[]

Paige 1

Paige, as she is depicted on Movellas.

  • D. Isaac Thomas stated that Paige was tough and committed and willing to commit genocide to keep evil at bay, yet being reserved on whether he considers her to be truly evil.
  • Melissa Vaine greatly enjoyed her character.

Author's comments[]

"She's tough, not in an unpleasant way, but she's gutsy. At the same time she's very committed and the Battle of Golgolod showed that she's willing to commit genocide if pressured into it, and she's willing to do it again. Baby Intelligence and Superquack wouldn't support her, obviously, as they think it set them apart from evil. Is she truly an evil woman? I consider an answer to that very, very open to interpretation."
